noob looking for advice

I’m not really sure how to fully articulate this but I will try. I recently discovered the world of alt biking/custom bikes etc and I am obsessed.

The only problem is, I know nothing about bikes, customising, buying etc and want any advice from those who’ve tried.

I just wanted some advice and maybe pointing in the right direction to begin my journey, I feel it’s difficult to know exactly what I want or how to start.

For starters, I used to ride bikes all the time growing up. I’m now 29M, around 186cm, and recently moved to Spain (Cataluña). I really want to have some kind of project to do as I’ve kind of lost myself in the corporate world and feel as though I need something to ground me and help me escape. I loved cycling, and I love this idea of building a bike from the ground up, however it is intimidating as I’m not really sure how to start. And I want it to feel super crisp and smooth.

The style/purpose/type of bike or its use:

I essentially want something I can cycle on roads but with the comfort to handle gravel/slightly rougher tracks. I want the ride to be chill and comfy but also kinda fast if needed. I don’t want suspension. I would use it initially to cycle between local villages, cruising around the local town on the coast, and essentially just something super fun. I later do fancy the idea of adventure biking and customising the bike with pack stuff, nothing crazy serious, at most maybe 1 day trip, but enough that the bike can handle some rougher terrain. I really like the aesthetic of cycling between towns/villages and using it for that sort of thing, and maybe taking it on road trips to the north of Spain and using it there. The aesthetic/style I like are attached as pics, I’m also curious how people manage to essentially choose one style/colour scheme, as I see so many people’s bikes and I’m just amazed at their creativity and personality.

I tried looking on Wallapop (spains Facebook marketplace) and also on Google to find local bike stores, but it seems the bike stores look more like pro athelete 5-10k € road bike places which doesn’t fit my vibe of chill fun adventure that im after. Does anyone have any purchasing advice or ideas of where to begin? Also if so, what sort of bike/frame etc should I be going for?

Is there a couple brands or is it like ‘anything’ works as long as it fits certain criteria?

[Routine Help] adding in salicylic acid for T zone black heads?

Hi all,

28M, I’ve had a pretty strict routine the last 10 years of moisturising and cleansing (using La Roche possay toleraine) and my skin has remained good. However I still find occasionally each month I get a lot more build up/blackheads/dead skin if I don’t cleanse in the evenings before bed (if I skip and do it the next day).

I still struggle with blackheads in the T zone. I was wondering, what are people’s experiences with salicylic acid 2% a couple times a week? Is it something worth adding into my routine? My main gripe right now is that I just want to control the black heads a little bit more. They don’t give me much grief, but if there was a simple step to add into a couple times a week I’d be keen to try it.

Thanks :)

Watch recommendations

Hi,

I want to get a smart watch primarily to track my sleep, heart rate, and overall stress-influencing related statistics. I’d also use it for gym/cycling related activities, but nothing crazy intense.

Budget: any, if one is cheaper and still does all of the above and is cheaper, then I’m all for it.

Overall I would like something that is subscription free and will maybe last me the next 5+ years of normal everyday use

Post-op Meniscus surgery Physiotherapist

Hola señoras y señores.

I recently had a meniscus surgery outside of Spain. I’m looking for any advice or experience that anyone has of a great post operation physiotherapist in the areas Cambrils/Reus/Tarragona. I had the operation outside of Spain, but me and my partner will be returning to Spain next month and I want to ensure I get the best therapist for my recovery.

Moltes gràcies

Language Transfer - Spanish. Documenting my journey 0-90 as a native English speaker whilst I recovery from an operation. I will edit my post everyday by documenting the lessons completed and sharing any thoughts throughout.

Hey everyone.

I just wanted to make a post for myself and for anyone interested in my language transfer journey. I have dabbled a couple times previously but never stuck it out past lesson 25. I am trying to learn Spanish despite being very burnt out with work. However, I have recently had a knee surgery.

Therefore, I have decided to create this post to hold myself accountable and also dedicate the necessary time to completing language transfer from 0-90 for Spanish. I am going to begin with 1 hour a day and gradually increase it to 2 hours a day. I will update the post each day with progress updates, lessons completed and maybe a rough estimate on time spent that day.

Any questions or advice, please feel free to ask away. I’ve always wanted to read a post regarding something like this without all the fluff of some AI generated jargon. So I will be as honest as possible throughout the process. The minutes taken will be a timer from when I start that day and when I finish, so it will include pausing LT to answer etc. I’ll leave the timer rolling so you can see how much actual time is taken each day. My aim is to finish LT in 7-14 days depending how much time I dedicate each day :)

Day 1:

Lessons completed: 0-8

Study time: 66mins

Thoughts: common sense, my brain feels like mash potato due to spamming reels the previous days. But basics super easy.

Day 2:

Lessons completed: 8-14

Study time: 74mins

Thoughts: straightforward stuff, mainly just focussing on word orders within sentences.

Day 3: TBC

Lessons completed:

Study time:

Kodiaq or Superb (estate)

Hi everyone,

Appreciate all of the posts and feedback people have in this sub. I’m a new buyer and this will be my first ever ‘newish’ car purchase. I’m only 28, me and my partner are moving to Spain, we/I will potentially be commuting to and from Barcelona and using the car in the future when we decide to have children.

We are quite torn between which model to choose from. We like both for different reasons.

Kodiaq offers the ability to have 7 seats, which in certain circumstances is useful (when my parents come to visit).

Whilst the superb offers a more luxury feel whilst still upholding significant luggage space.

We are looking for a car that feels spacious but also is comfortable for everyday driving, and in the future school runs etc… something that does it all basically.

I was just wondering if people who own either or both, could share their thoughts and experiences and how the longevity feels on either. Ideally we would look to be getting a car that is 3 years old or newer. What models/trim would you suggest or recommend for either? We both really care about a spacious/comfortable/nice interior feel, whilst the car is practical for short and long trips, commutes to work, or even long journeys around Spain with potential for camping etc. sorry if this is a load of waffle, aside from needing to test drive both, I just wanted some people’s opinions and experiences so that I can filter out some of the ‘sales talk’ that I will likely encounter. The good the bad the ugly. Anything is welcome. Thank you :)
