Sync help

This is what I’m trying to do, and I thought I was almost there, but running into speed bumps.

Have a Kobo Libra and a Supernote with Koreader installed.

Both are “supposedly” syncd with a self-hosted Bookorbit install. (I’m also open to using Calibre - but this is slicker.)

Is there a way for sync to recognize the exact location in an epub when syncing progress across multiple sized devices?

They seem to sync with a certain percentage read, but since the dimensions and therefore page counts are off. So the pages don’t match up. 15% is at a different place with each device.

Is there an actual way to do this? Sync multiple devices with different dimensions?

Also, I tried to use Koreader on the Libra as well with not so great results.

Bookorbit Sync anyone?

Anyone using the new self-hosted Bookorbit been able to actually sync your Kobo?

My Bookorbit settings show it syncs, but books are not showing on my device.

Git-Lovable-Claude workflow

Following up on my previous post about anger with Lovable removing quick visual edits … I knew it was time to use Claude for these.

Can someone check my workflow?

  1. My Lovable project is syncd with GitHub. Everything seems to be in order.
  2. Claude is able to access my git project easily, even previewing in a dev environment.
  3. I made simple changes in Claude.
  4. Went back to Lovable. Everything seemed to sync just fine - I checked the changes back in Lovable app and indeed, they were there. (Even showed the change in Lovable chat.)

So - just making sure this workflow is correct, and I’m not messing anything up.

Seems to be quite workable.

Visual edits - ugh

I feel totally hood-winked. The only reason I chose Lovable over the competition were the easy and quick (free) visual edits - that literally likely costs the company nothing.

This seems like a rather major feature to just remove without a second thought.

Wasted three credits just to change a freaking border color.

I doubt anyone from Lovable is on this SR - but this is the type of thing that causes you to lose customers.

Asking as I have never actually tried (suppose I could easily try) - can you edit styles directly in code view without using credits?

Wonky Graph

I honestly don’t put much value in the graph - but it’s still fun.

However, I recently used Claude to add a rather substantial WIKi to my vault - which I love (and now realize I probably should have used a separate vault.)

This has wonked out my graph :) As you can see. (The upper left mass is the new wiki.)

How do I remove a specific folder from the general graph view? I think it’s “groups” - but I’m not entirely sure?

I want my graph view back to viewing only pages that I create. I’d rather not see that massive wiki in graph view.

Dog Days

I see much (deserved) love for the Dog Days filter. Which though is the definitive version for the Camp Snap 2? I see lots of variations, but want to grab the OG. Can someone provide a link?

Select > Images/Sticker

Update: I had the chance to try this on my RPPpro. Yes - it works great and as shown. HOWEVER - big caveat - it only saves the selection as a copied element to be pasted once. You cannot save it anywhere for future use. This is pretty limited IMO and I think we can do better!

Ooooh RM just did a thing …. SN Dev folks, this could be really helpful. (And maybe I’m missing a new plugin that already tackles this?)

Maybe this is my chance to do some plugin work.

Obsidian > PDF > Supernote

Use at your own risk - I am not a developer, just a tinkerer.

Claude helped me create a Supernote -> AI OCR -> Obsidian plugin that has been super helpful. You can find it here - https://github.com/seanbaugh/supersidian

This one works in the other direction.

For those of us that like to use Obsidian web clipper to save articles in Obsidian - and still want to keep them in Obsidian - but also want to read them on our Supernote, here is a simple plugin.

  1. Identify on your local syncd machine where you’d like to store the PDFs (I use the Document directory)
  2. In Obsidian contextual click the note, select Send to Obsidian. (Or use the command palette)
  3. Obsidian creates the PDF and saves to the syncd folder.
  4. Sync and read on your Supernote.
  5. Marks your Obsidian note as “Sent to Supernote” in the frontmatter

Crazy simple - and can be done other ways, but it’s just one click now.

Just another dumb “what would you do” gear question

I realized, through some general inventory, that my xh2 just sits there - rarely used - hell, the batteries haven’t even been charged in a long time.

My xe5 gets the most use as I use my gear mostly for travel/street.

So, the first thought would be - why don’t I just sell my xh2?

Well - the lenses. Many of my favorite high-end lenses - - my Viltrox 75 1.2, my new Sigma 17-40 1.8, my only telephoto Fuji 55-200, even my Viltrox 13 1.4 (but not so much) are sitting there as well.

They don’t get used as they are unwieldy on the xe5.

So what’s the strategy here?

- Lenses first? I.e. I really need to take advantage of these lenses - that are amazing lenses - on the xh2 and stop worrying about the camera.

- Camera first? I only really use the xe5 and need to find appropriate lenses that are a better fit for that camera.

- Quit my whining and just live with them both and use them both.

I know these are dumb questions - but I’m truly curious what you would do if you were in my shoes?

Disable AirPlay permissions each time

I have an app/hardware instance (Home Assistant/Music Assistant) which airplays to my Mac. Even with settings set to “everyone” and no password, it asks permission to accept the airplay request each time.

Anyone know how to disable this? Perhaps a terminal command?

Fun/pointless discussion - pen addiction. Anyone?

Somehow - sometime - I’ve developed a pen addiction. I have a collection of eight now, with plenty of overlap. Perhaps I just liked the way they felt, or liked the performance, etc.

I opened my pen pouch, and it dawned on me I have a serious problem. 🫣

I think … my favorites, in order …. Maybe …

  1. Kaweco AL sport - the nicest in my collection and love how it feels
  2. HOM
  3. Ceramic LAMY from SN - the clear one - love how it feels and looks
  4. My new purple/green LAMY - it just looks so freaking cool LOL
  5. LAMY + button - I don’t use the button much, but it’s nice to have
  6. Staedtler Jumbo - thin and fun to use - and eraser (it just dawned on my it’s my only pen with eraser.)

And a few others that don’t need mentioning.

Anyone else wanna share their addiction? Any regrets? I mean - we are spending serious money!

Quick add browser extension similar to web clipper

Ran into this product, which is obviously just a web app. Looks great - but no Obsidian integration that I can tell.

https://mindchuk.com/main

And it got me thinking. Is there a browser extension with similar functionality as Obsidian Web Clipper that allows just quick, taggable, formatted snippets?

I believe I’ve ran across a few menu bar type apps for this, but any browser extension similar?

A beginner question

A stupid beginner (but learning) question.

I installed Hermes using my Ollama install. (ollama install hermes) Works great. Seems like I’m getting what I want from it. Gateway is working.

However - watching this subreddit I feel maybe I’m not truly using “full” Hermes? I.e. just Ollamas implementation of it?

Perhaps I’m a bit confused with how these two work together.

I guess I'm asking - is this a legit way to install Hermes?

Supernote -> Obsidian/MD Plugin Part 2

I know this has been discussed by myself and others, but I got tired of waiting for an easy solution.

For those that use Supernote, and use the Ratta Obsidian Plugin, you know it works, but personally I’m not a fan of the workflow.

So, Claude helped me (rather quickly I found) build a pretty simple Obsidian plugin that …

  1. Watches your syncd stored .note folders on your machine
  2. Discovers new notes automatically upon launch
  3. Uses the AI provider of your choice to transcribe (it will fall back to Supernote OCR, but frankly, I have found it less reliable. Claude is great with them.) It’s a bring your own API setup. Looks like it costs about .05 cents a page using Sonnet.
  4. Transcribes and saves automatically to a vault location you set up.

It works amazingly well.

So, the question is -

I’m not a developer. And I don’t want to put in the time to make this publicly available, keep up with, etc. I built it for my personal use.

So, are folks actually interested in this? Or is this such a niche use that … meh?

If so, I might hand it off to someone who can keep up with it, update it, keep it going if anyone wants it.

Which path for per-org app instance

Finished app work and now looking for the best (and least amount of friction) option to deploy the app to multiple organizations, who would need a fresh, empty version of the app. Basically a sass model.

Is Lovable Remix the best option for this?

Or would a deployment with Supabase and new host be the best? I.e. customername.appname.com.

Seems like a supabase project per org would be the best option if I envision this project growing with multiple orgs?

Best leather conditioner

I’ve been “told” that I should condition the leather on my Px8s2s occasionally.

Good product for this? I honestly don’t have much leather in my life and have no idea.

I know - maybe the wrong SR - but here we are.
