Asking for information on the reality of the journey to entering the legal profession in Ireland

Hope this is the correct sub-reddit for this. I see many posts that don't ask questions specifically about the exams, so I hopefully this is welcome here.

My situation is as follows. I fell into a law degree with no great thinking. Now as I enter my final year, I am trying to prepare for what I want to do in the future.

I am a Maynooth student. I have done the bare minimum throughout my university life. I am on track to achieve a 1st class honours degree, but that's it. No society's joined, no legal experience etc. I am not exaggerating when I say I have absolutely nothing to help me on a quest to become a solicitor in Ireland other than a law degree.

I am under the impression that I would need to pass all 8 Fe-1 exams, convince somebody to take me on a training contract for two years, and then complete a year of a PPC course. So four years would be the best case scenario, assuming the exams take me a year and I land a training contract immediately. I am also under the impression that a training contract is extremely hard to come by. I believe that this will be compounded by my absolute lack of interest or experience in the field up until this point, and maybe my university not being as competitive as others. I am also under the impression that a training contract in a firm in Dublin would not be in the realm of possibility for somebody like me, so I would need to try and find a local solicitor to take me on.

Could somebody who has taken this journey before tell me how it was? Also, if anybody is willing to provide any information whatsoever, or wants to predict how my journey may be, please tell me. If anybody knows about the barrister route also, please let me know. I didn't explicitly ask that as this sub reddit is for solicitors.

Final note: I am trying to be diligent and research accordingly what my life may be like for the next path I take. I am finding it hard to do so for being a solicitor. I am planning to volunteer in a local firm, not to improve my CV, but to try get some experience to see if I enjoy it. Is there any other information e.g articles, books, interviews etc. that somebody could recommend for me to research this?

I am eager not to waste another couple of years of my life by coasting into a pathway that I haven't fully considered, as I naively did with my choice of degree. Becoming a solicitor is by no means a vocation for me, and if I feel it isn't the right path, so be it. However, I want to do my due diligence for the law journey which I definitely have not done. Since I have the degree, I want to see if it is possible for me, and something I may enjoy. That is to say, don't be afraid to tell me the truth about the likelihood of this working out for me. Thanks.

Day trips suggestions in Switzerland from Bern.

I am in Bern for 3 weeks, and I have 5 travel days on my interrail pass.

Looking for suggestions on trips where I can travel to and from Bern in one day as to only use one day on my interrail pass.

I don't care too much about visiting the big cities. Girlfriend suggests Luzern, but thats the only one I would spend a travel day on.

I am an avid hiker, so I am interested in anywhere I can hike or do any sort of outdoor activity and see wonderful scenery, but I am conscious of the fact that unprepared tourists can get into danger, and I only brought my hiking boots with me and no other gear so I wouldn't feel comfortable doing extremely challenging hikes.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Do people make alternative accounts to practice new openings?

Title is all there is to my question. I want to learn the Sicilian, and to begin playing 1.d4. Do people practice new openings on their main account?

Seeking primary teaching PGCE graduate to speak with

Long shot but I’ll try.
My girlfriend has just completed her masters in anthropology. She doesn’t want to pursue it anymore, and wants to become a primary school teacher. We are trying to research in order to apply for something for the upcoming academic year.
She is a German citizen, and we don’t really understand how the PGCE works, and I am seeking somebody to speak with either on a call or on direct messages to discuss our situation with.

Would really appreciate it, thanks in advance

Hi guys. I live abroad, and am returning home for a few days. My younger brother wants retro rewind, and I really want to help him get it but I haven't a clue where to start.

Only thing I have is a vanilla nintendo wii. Can someone link me videos, or tell me, how I can get him retro rewind? He wants to play online with all the custom tracks, like Troy does in his youtube videos. thanks

How much does Blindfold chess help?

Just curious since a lot of online personalities and people I personally know say its great training. I have aphantasia (no minds eye) so it is an impossibility for me, and I am wondering how much I am missing out on

Preserving your games.

Feel a bit stupid. I have been playing OTB chess for around 2 years now. I never analysed games, and never even kept the gamesheets. I have some game sheets lying around (perhaps 10 percent of games played), but I wish I had a record of all the games I have played.

Going to make a change from now on, to analyse all my games, preserve every game sheet, and it may be ambitious but I would like to commit my future games played to memory as best as I can.

Reason for the post is my friend was dumbfounded that I didn't save all my games, and called me a fool. Have the majority of you guys saved every game you've ever played OTB?

Only ever played 1...e5 before. I want to play 1...c5 online from now on to experience this side of chess.

I am a bit overwhelmed at the abundance of systems to choose from. I want to find the best variation that serves my goals, which is to learn the most thematic Sicilian structures and plans, and to improve my chess knowledge and understanding.

The first crossroads I have encountered is whether to play 2... Nc6, 2...e6, or 2...d6.

Don't even know where to begin. I guess the only idea I have is that I wouldn't want to play a Najdorf or a Dragon.

Any advice would be appreciated. I hope I have explained my motivation for learning the Sicilian well, and if I haven't I am sorry.

Also, some context in case it is important. I am 1690 FIDE, I have never played 1...c5 in my life, I play into the Open Sicilian as white, and I do not care in the slightest about the practical value of my chances to win games with the variation I choose in the Sicilian. I can lose every game for all I care, my only purpose is to enrich my chess knowledge and culture.
