Aria and Mr. Needs to be in Jail

Currently on my first rewatch of PLL since I was 12 and I’m noticing some wild things. I’m sure the topic I’m writing about has been discussed so many times, but I gotta say it. Aria and Mr. Fitz were moving soooo boldly. I mean there was literally zero shame. He was begging to be arrested!

Another thing, Aria was literally running after this man so bad. She’s everywhere! His apartment, taking classes at his job, talking to him loudly and unabashedly AT SCHOOL. I keep yelling at the screen, begging her to wake up, crossing my fingers he is caught by an adult…

Lastly, I want to add that I feel like the writers made her relationship her main and most interesting storyline. They didn’t really give aria any depth or personality traits besides dating Mr. Fitz, being interested in writing, andddd yeah that’s all I got.

Side note: I love that there’s a hazardous flair tag for this exact subject

**in case the title is confusing to you, I’m not saying aria should be in jail, lol. It’s slang babes

Jo Anna Beth on PLL

I am a big fan of Supernatural and had no clue Jo did a guest appearance on PLL. I love seeing actors outside of their designated fandoms. It’s like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs. Also, just made it to the episode where Caleb is introduced. Him and Hanna are one of my fav couples

Spencer and the boyfriends of Melissa

I’m sure this has been discussed in this thread before, but I gotta get it off my chest with people who understand. For context, I am re-watching pretty Little liars for the first time since I was like 13 or 14 and now I’m 25. I am remembering some plot points and completely forgetting others. For instance, I never forgot aria and Fitz for obvious reasons, but now I’m noticing how creepy Melissa’s boyfriends are towards Spencer. When I was a teenager, I thought nothing of it. But now that I’m an adult with real life experience, i find their behavior so creepy.

Melissa was entitled to feel upset that her fiancée kissed her little sister. However, her mother and Melissa completely glazed over the fact that Spencer is a minor and wren kissed her. A minor whose sister’s boyfriend’s have prayed on her and made inappropriate advances towards her. Like where are the parents??

And this is no hate towards the show. I love the show. It’s just very 2000s.

There’s some truth to Tony’s statement “You are what you are”

First and foremost, it’s important to preface this post by saying that yes Tony, and all of the other members of the crew made their own choices as consenting adults. This post is not to absolve them of their wrongdoings or to make excuses for them, I’m just a thought daughter.

I am a sociology major and work in the mental health field. Recently, I’ve been doing a lot of studying on epigenetic’s and how trauma responses are passed down epigenetically. I’m re-watching S1E7 of the Sopranos where Tony is concerned about AJ and is trying to decipher if AJ is acting out because of Tony’s behavior(s)/genes. Tony and Dr. Melfi have a conversation on how you’re born into this shit and you are what you are. Melfi replies that everything is a choice and those other factors aren’t really indicative of how a person turns out.

Although Dr. Melfi is 100% right, I wanted to add some nuance to the topic. For context, someone can have a parent who was born into poverty, abuse, food scarcity, etc. and experience those traumatic behaviors or survival tactics simply from it being passed on by their parent. The child could’ve been raised in a safe environment, with plenty of food, and never gone through abuse. Yet, sometimes your nervous system can be wired to respond to certain environmental triggers that they never actually went through themselves. Not only did Tony grow up in an environment that would grandfather him into the mafia lifestyle, not only did he see his father and uncle committing violence and crimes, but he also had several family members who were involved in the lifestyle, and therefore passed down violence, depression, anxiety, and other factors to him just by being related to him. These elements heavily affected how he responded to environmental triggers, like stress and anxiety (panic attacks) and play a direct part on why he behaved the way he did.

Cristina Yang from an Adult POV

For context, I grew up, watching Grey’s Anatomy from a very young age. I used to think Cristina was cold, calculating, obsessive, and selfish. However, watching Grey’s Anatomy as an adult has helped me to completely transform my opinions on the characters, the situations they went through, and what it would be like to be in that characters shoes.

As a 25-year-old young woman now, Cristina is everything I think young women should aspire to be. She was confident, successful, focused on herself, her career, investing in her passion, focused on more than just romantic relationships (such as friendships), and knew who she was. The show definitely tries to frame her as cold and largely negative, but it’s the farthest thing from the truth. That’s not to say that she wasn’t a flawed person, but she had some of the best character development on the show in my opinion.

She was literally MOTHER.

Edit
I acknowledge that Cristina was a complex character and absolutely had her negative traits such as being a bully or insensitive to others around her. I’m not excusing it or promoting that behavior in others. However, she did have a lot of admirable qualities and that’s what this post is about overall.

[Homemade] LH Parmesan Crusted Chicken

I made an imitation Longhorn’s Parmesan crusted chicken, asparagus (that I accidentally overcooked), and cinnamon, honey butter mashed sweet potatoes. It was very good if I do say so myself.

Ellen and Jo

I’ve reached S5E10 of my rewatch and I’m always absolutely GUTTED by Jo and Ellen’s death scene. I’m literally crying for a number of reasons. 1. They didn’t have to kill them, like at all. They would’ve been great additions later in the show and I loved them as characters in general. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive them for this. 2. The acting really makes you believe a mother is about to lose her daughter irl, absolutely heartbreaking. 3. Jo and Dean never got to get together in the…biblical sense. This is still a decision regarding the show that frustrates me. They could’ve been a great couple. SO much potential, smh.

Update: I did some research and learned that Jo was killed off because fans didn’t want Dean to have a love interest…wtf is up with that?? I’ve never heard of no shit like that before 😭 I’m gagged.

Who did you think was right on the Adam debate?

I’m currently rewatching S4E19 “Jump The Shark,” where Sam and Dean find out they have a brother, Adam. To be honest, this isn’t one of my favorites and i usually skip it or ignore it when I rewatch. However, something about it piqued my interest today and I’m curious to know who you think was right regarding Adam’s fate: Sam or Dean?

I feel like they both had a point, but leaned more towards Dean’s line of thinking. Let’s talk about Sam first. I think Sam was really struggling with anger, rage, vengefulness, and other strong feelings during this season because of his beef with Lilith. Plus, I think all the demon blood pumping through his veins made him more aggressive. It’s true that Adam would’ve benefited from learning how to protect himself and learning the truth about what was out there. However, I agree with Dean when he felt like Adam had a shot at a normal life. Dean always wanted better for Sam (like the father brother he was) and in turn, I could see him feeling the same way about Adam.

In addition to that, I do think both the boys were jealous of Adam, but for different reasons. I feel like Dean was jealous because it seemed like Adam had more of a normal connection with their father, and that hurt Dean due to how he was treated and how much responsibility was forced on him. On the other hand, I felt like Sam was also jealous of the normalcy, but because he didn’t get to finish school or have his girlfriend and friends, and I think that made him angry. Plus, there were many times throughout this season he called himself a “freak“ and I think he longed for the sense of normalcy that Adam had as a regular human.

Any who, just a thought! In the end, we all know what happened to Adam at the end of this episode.

One of the grossest moments of the show

I’m currently on S4E8 “Wishful Thinking” of my rewatch and I have a few thoughts. I actually love this episode and find it hilarious. It has some great moments like “Kneel before Todd!” Or Sam and Dean being “lollipop doctors” for the gigantic, depressed, stuffed bear. However, that dude “Wes” was an absolute creep. I’m not sure if I’m overreacting, but it feels like a case of SA. He made a wish that Hope would love him and when his wish came true, he absolutely engaged in intimate activities with her KNOWING it was because of a spell/magic. The poor girl didn’t even know who he was once he pulled the coin out of the wishing well.
