How many times did you apply?

I'm near a few different LM offices. Have been applying to SWE roles and tailoring my resume the best I can to each. Just past 50 resumes and not a single interview. I've had a few recruiters reach out but never heard back. Assuming because of no clearance and maybe non-defense background is why. I have the years of experience for senior roles, but the technologies are never 1:1.

How many times did you apply before you got an interview? How many years of experience did you have and did you already have clearance? Any tips would be appreciated.

Nanit not turning on

Have tried unplugging it and back in, waiting 5 minutes between. Changing the outlet, using another cord/brick, and tried letting it sit unplugged for a while.

No lights turn on, just seems completely dead. Was on last night and died sometime this morning before my son woke up.

Really enjoyed the camera but it’s only 2 years old and just died for no reason. A bit disappointed.

Any idea what might be the issue, maybe there is something else I can try? I think the model is N301.

Best part about the whole thing is my wife is due in October and we weren’t planning on buying another monitor :/

Would certs help me get in?

I’ve been applying to LM SWE jobs since the start of the year. A bunch move to “resume under review” and I’ve had a few recruiters reach out, but I get ghosted.

No defense background. I have around 5 years in medical software and 2.5 in finance. I’m working on my Master's Degree in Computer Science. Most of my work experience is Java, Ruby, and Python. My undergrad was mostly C++, and I have a couple basic C++ projects on my resume.

Would getting a Security+ now actually help for SWE/SE roles at LM? I see a lot of postings mention Security+ or say you need to get it within x months after joining.

No clearance, but I’m a U.S. citizen and would be eligible to get one. Mainly looking for SWE/SE (software focused) roles.

Any advice from people joined LM without defense experience?

Am I asking too much?

I’ve applied to dozens of roles this year. Mostly senior software engineer and system engineer roles. My background is in healthcare and fintech as a software engineer with 7 years of experience and working on my masters in CS.

I’d say 2 in 10 applications I send I hit every requirement (especially if the role says C++ or similar. My undergrad and some projects are C++ but prof is Java). About 1 in 10 applications I get a recruiter emailing me for more info.

For salary I always put 130-150k depending on level and location (space coast or Orlando). I make 120k + bonus today.

Is that too much? It’s usually the higher-middle end of the range on the job description.

Does LM get a lot of SWE and SE applicants?

Does Lockheed get a lot of software engineer and system engineer applicants for every role? I'd imagine a lot less than non-defense companies. I feel like I'm applying into the void.

Some background on me: 8 years of experience as a swe in healthcare and fintech, working on my Master's in CS, no professional C++ experience but my undergrad and some side projects were in C++, looking in Florida (I'm in North Florida but want to move back to Central Florida to be closer to family).

I get some applications that move to 'resume under review' but never get interviews. Not willing to move out of Florida but entertain the idea sometimes and I get interviews, maybe my resume needs to be fit more towards defense roles?

Could Systems Engineering be right for me?

Hi all, I'm a software engineer with 7 years of experience. I have a bachelor's degree in CS and about a year away (3 classes) from completing my master's in CS/AI. My domain has been in Finance and Medical.

I find myself more interested in the planning and discovery phases of projects than the actual coding. Especially since AI has taken the fun out of it (mostly anyways). I'm thinking about applying to both Systems Engineering role and Management positions.

Does a SWE with 7 yoe and my education background fit SE hiring at all?

Whats AI like at Lockheed?

AI is the talk of the town at my current job. If we aren't using AI to do 2-3x more work and take on support and qa we are behind.

I've been applying to LM for SWE roles for about a month with no luck but want to gauge how much AI I should talk about if I ever get interviewed.

Have been browsing FB Marketplace non-stop with a 100 mile radius. Only 1 D2 and its more project than car.

Where else are you all looking? is 5-6k possible (anticipating 10k total after some repairs). Not sure if that is reasonable.

I've been applying to Lockheed non-stop since January. Every senior level SWE role I can find. Even if the background is a 70-80% match. The biggest two issues I'll face is no clearance and I don't have a C++ background. I've been in medical and banking for 7 years, all Java and Python. I added 2 C++ projects to my resume and my undergrad was all C++, but that was a while ago.

I'm really wanting to move into a defense role.

Any tips?
