Second attempt at shooting with a strobe... Finally got some things worth keeping.

In my first attempt I constantly had my strobe power too low, exposure too bright, thinking I was emulating the natural light look. Ofc the results were ass. I also had my (single) strobe too low, which resulted in an unpleasant direct light look. I changed that this time by basically always having my strobe as high as possible. I was also willing to use more power and underexpose the background more, fully embracing the fact that it was probably impossible the photos turned out looking like natural light. But I still need to work on minimizing backscatter :(

I think I was able to make the photos a lot more natural looking in postprocessing. I used some masks to even out the lighting so the photos wouldn't look super strobed. Lowering brightness, saturation and detail also helped to make the photos not look like crazy color/detail bombs.

I photographed a big jellyfish in the ocean the other day

I'd been wanting to see a huge jellyfish for years. We had already returned to the surface when I noticed this fella down below, and I asked the guide if I could go down again real quick. Not the wisest thing to do but boy I finally got to check this box. What a day it was.

No motivation for life.

I'm a recent college graduate and I have no idea what to do. Since the end of sophomore year I've basically just been existing - passing courses because I had to and now just staying alive because I have to. Life just doesn't seem to be a fair trade. Having to work hard and get stressed out for so little reward that's easily outweighed by pain? Why not just be dead? I really wish I hadn't been born into this world just so I wouldn't need to suffer needlessly. I'm probably just a privileged lazy fuck, but anything that I don't like but requires effort feels overwhelming. There really just isn't an incentive that convinces me I can do it and it's all worth it. I hate myself for how incompetent I am but can't find motivation or even a way to change. I have no idea what I'm doing with my life and just wish I didn't have it.

Sorry if this post is very unorganized, but what do I even do? To improve myself, and to find life and suffer worth it?

Shipwreck photos

Should probably get a strobe at some point. Been diving a lot with unideal visibility/weather. Should give me more options to play with.

Manta wants a hug

Taken in Maldives last year.

I find it kinda impossible to compose in fast-moving situations. Anyone got some experience? I don't really get to shoot/practice with fast subjects too often so I wanna make sure I capitalize on every opportunity.

Surprised to see my result

I ranted here yesterday.

Was expecting my speaking to be around 6-6.5. I was quite fluent and was able to come up with enough ideas (something I really struggled with while practicing). However I think I made some grammatical errors, and a few of my answers weren't really logical/didn't quite answer the questions. I guess my fluency helped a lot.

Writing shocked me even more. My structure was a mess (as you can probably guess from the structure of the post lol). Everything I had practiced seemed to have slipped away and my coherence was horrible as well. In task 1 my body 1 was way longer/more detailed than body 2 (content was quite detailed tho.) Task 2 was even worse. I used connectives for the sake of doing it and my points sounded forced. Out of the exam room I was expecting a 6 or worse because boy that was ass. I genuinely can't think of a reasonable explanation of how this happened lol.

I was expecting a 7.5 for listening. I only practiced twice and did fairly well both times (7.0, 7.5). When I got the second and third question wrong I was like alright that's it lmao. I guess I got the rest of the questions right. I was only confident in part 3 of all 4 so 8.5 is very surpring.
