General Advice

Hey!

I have a science degree and a minor and math from 2017. I currently work in automation/email marketing. I enjoy it, but I’ve notice the pay scale is trending downward, and AI is coming after everyone in marketing’s job.

I’m very good at optimizing systems, and enjoy doing it. I also like that this degree comes with some flexibility. I would prefer some more stability in my role. Would it be meaningful to go get a degree in Industrial Engineering and pivot roles? I did some preliminary research on Lamar’s 2+2 Online Industrial Engineering degree, but wanted some advice from people in the weeds.

Would this be worth the effort and cost? I know some basic Python, SQL, and HTML, and am getting a little stale on Excel but used to use pivot tables often. How has AI been effecting the market and how hard has it been to get your first job upon graduation?

What do you guys do for “fitness hobbies”?

I went from fairly sedentary to walking 10,000 steps a day and hiking on weekends in the past six months.

It's given me a much-needed mental boost. I completed a 14er last weekend and want to get into harder climbs and eventually join a climbing gym.

I'm just curious what everyone else enjoys. I might want to mix up my hiking weekends with something else, especially once winter hits.

Walking Ahead

I don’t know what I expect to get out of posting this.

My husband walks ahead of me on hikes and our daily walks. He’s got about a foot on me and my back starts to hurt if I try to keep up.

We’re both physically active. I enjoy hiking more than he does and I can’t help but feel like the walking 20 feet in front of me on a hike is his way of pouting for being up on a Saturday morning.

I told him it bothered me a couple of times and he just gets irritated and gives me the silent treatment. It really hurts my feelings and has been taking the joy out of one of my favorite activities.

Am I being too sensitive? My parents always told me I was too sensitive growing up.

Should I get divorced?

I'm seriously considering getting divorced. I've been with my husband for 10 years, and we've been married for 4 years.

He used to be affectionate, but now he never touches me, never initiates sex, dates, and never says I love you first. I feel so lonely.

When I talk to him about the lack of intimacy, he shuts down. Refuses to talk about it. Then he usually has sex with me (it feels like he's just trying to shut me up) and then we won't have sex again until I bring up that I'm unhappy with the lack of sex. He treats it like a chore. I can't remember the last time he kissed me, and it wasn't a peck after I kissed him first.

I cried myself to sleep last night, and I know he was awake but never asked what was wrong or seemed to care. I want to try therapy, but I feel like he won't go, and I'm so tired of trying when he doesn't.

He does things for me. He makes dinner. Plants me flowers, fixes up things in the house, and that's all nice, but the lack of intimacy is making me miserable and just feel bad about myself…

I’m an ENTP (f) and have a pretty high sex drive. It actually ends up being a problem in most my relationships. I would have sex every day and most men barely want to have sex once a week past the honeymoon phase…or at least that’s been my experience.
