The Spot and The Collider/Visual storytelling

Most probably know The Spot already is amazing with his visual storytelling of “giving into the hole inside you” or “the unfinished sketch/blankspace”, but something I don’t see brought up is him and the collider

Every time the The Spot changes his mindset and objective in life, from when he’s a literal background character to the main antagonist of the final movie, the collider is there, all happening in the main room of it too

-Ohnn chooses works on the collider which sets his fate in motion

-He gets caught in blast turning him into The Spot that at the time just seeks validation and purpose from the one person left that can acknowledge his existence

-After Spider-Man shatters him, he sheds his portals, swallows himself, discovers his potential, and gets spat back out at the collider with a new purpose, but has to work for it

-Builds his own collider to further gain to power to punish Spider-Man, once again letting the collider just make his life worse (from our perspective at least)

-Finds an even bigger collider that literally takes him down a dark path. Instead of just awkwardly consuming him (like it didn’t even know if it wanted too)** **like his mini one, this one entirely consumes him whole.

-While he rebirths himself here, he also leaves here aswell, and when he does, he crushes himself inward, and naturally has apart of himself reaching out to be free of this terrible pain he let consume him, symbolising his self destructive journey

-By far my favourite one and most underrated. In the end of the movie he comes back to 1610, choosing to land at the Collider, the birthplace of the anguish and which started all of this in the first place. More powerful and confident than ever, He literally rises above it, leaving all of that behind to entirely fulfill his new purpose of punishing Miles. The past doesn’t matter anymore in this moment.

The Spots visual design was very important to the producers and directors of the movie, yet the collider symbolism I don’t think was ever mentioned in the commentary or interviews, which makes me believe even more that they really are just naturally incredible storytellers. The final scene of The Spot returning was also a last year addition, it would’ve been so easy to write him to just land in the middle of the city, to create fear in us and the citizens, but the character is just to peak to stay inconsistent.

I hope this fact is utilised for the rivalry in Beyond

Miles and The Spot are one of my favourite rivalries, even for the little we seen of it on screen, you can make so much of it on screen and off of it.

One of that, being is that the biggest thing that drives and keeps Miles down a heroic path, is because of his community, friends, and family, despite how easy it could be to ignore his moral responsibility.

Since Johnathan Ohnn became The Spot, he has/had no one. Everyone, you couldn’t name one who didn’t, turned their back on him. Though we don’t know for sure, it took about a year and a half before The Spot committed a crime, safe to say, (considering his social personality as-well) he tried to adjust to his life and didn’t give up before he coped with blaming Spider-Man.

My point being is that if The Spot had anyone or was welcome anywhere, things could’ve turned out a lot more differently with him, since he wasn’t even evil before either, he just had low morals. And you could imagine the same for Miles (we’ll probably see that too)

I don’t expect a fair physical fight at all with The Spot, so I think it would be great if that the resolution would sort of revolve around helping or finding a place for The Spot to belong, either with the Multiverse or through the help of Miles. These two characters are so similar in circumstance and feelings, but their mindset is what sets them apart, that’s what makes the rivalry so exciting to see conclude, which is crazy considering The Spot is going to be an animation phenomenon in Beyond, but I’m more excited to see what happens between him and Miles.

Among Us TV details I haven’t seen anyone comment on

I love the Among Us show. This seemingly simple 1 hour and a half show has a lot of hidden details and stories beneath the surface. Even 2 months later I find new things that are fascinating. Here are things of significance I have not seen people bring up. Comment if I missed something

  1. Orange emerges from the Impostor shadow in the intro, a subtle detail to tie them to the Impostor, since that shadow is meant for Green. Which ever action they do aswell, syncs to the music dropping

  2. In Episode 7, Red plays a Pokémon rip off where a Green alien (Headslug) utterly destroys Heracles. This pretty much happens off screen in the show

  3. In the intro the Impostor Shadow very very briefly flashes an explanation mark on its face before it establishes itself

  4. Blue gives Green a knee jerk reaction test, in the intro. This is ironic since every kill by Impostor Green was calculated and never spur of the moment

  5. Green goes missing in the storage room after theyre infected, until it’s resolved. This is probably how they somehow killed White since they were missing from the scene too

  6. In the final Reactor scene, whether Green was infected or not, they were 100% valid when they played victim which was an awesome way to make us second guess when they just clearly got exposed a moment ago

  7. If Green was never infected, they’d be a very emotional and different character throughout the show. They would’ve been put through hell watching all their co workers die, clean them up, (potentially be killed sooner since they clean up the bodies) be treated less, and their morality would be put to the test. They were funded to go here, so if they don’t follow the easy and dark path of Red, it could all be in vein if they choose to be good

  8. The moment when Purple is on the cameras in EP8 and Green goes down the hallway with a sinister look and a body bag was a big clue that something isn’t right with them. Especially since the Impostor is briefly shown behind Black in storage moments later

  9. Though no one’s bothered by it, it was a little difficult for me to get over how the Impostor doesn’t just finish off Red or Purple, after Black dies, and its ggs. However after more rewatches, when Purple figures out that the Ore are Impostors, the actual Impostor gets visibly afraid and frustrated. I think that since it can only kill one at a time, if it killed one of them, the last one would just eject the Ore as a final “f u”. The Impostor was probably about to go to storage to hatch eggs to win, when it said it was going for trash bags, but Red unintentionally saved the day. It probably had no idea what to do once the reactor started to meltdown, which is why it never finds something to turn everyone against each other in that scene

  10. In the Episode 6 intro, Cyan dies this episode, and when Orange explodes, their face is pretty fearful and innocent. This is similar to what every Crewmate does before they die post Episode 6. They have little details and a “humanity” moment before they tragically die. For example Yellow says goodbye to Brown, Brown rebels against the system, tries the salt, and mourns Yellow in the intro, and Black regrets how they treated Cyan, avenges their work, and mourns them in the intro. Even Red and Purple almost complete their character arcs in the same scene the Impostor could potentially kill one of them. The only thing we got from Green was, “I wanna go home”, there was never any genuine remorse from them in the intro and the show

  11. Most people probably think the Impostor died because it consumed the salt gun, but I think it’s because Zombie Blue shot the heck out of Red with the gun. The show never confirmed it so who knows

  12. If the reactor blew up in this show, Imps would not win unlike the game. Or maybe they would depending on what MIRA wouldve done with them. IDK

  13. In the end Red revealed they were kissed by Cyan, you can find this photo in episode 8

  14. Red also says the kiss makes them constipated but there were never any bathrooms on the skeld. This is a reference to how this ruins the show for me

  15. When I watched the show for the first time, and episode 5 ended with the lights going out I genuinely got so hyped and chilled. If this show had weekly episodes it would be a pain

  16. The show throws your head in a loop about what the hell crewmates are. Cyan says they feel their heart, mention shoulders and the brain, but they only have a bone? Black mentions eyes and suits, but only the Impostors have eyes, and are suits not supposed to be the skin? Red makes fun of the idea of arms, but the rip off game in episode 3 has a anime girl with arms (don’t take this one seriously)

  17. The Among Us crewmates are really strong beings. They weigh 92 pounds are able to shake each other in the air like bottles. Potential toon force, but I think not since they could push that crate in episode 1

  18. Among Us TV completed my trilogy of huge indie breakouts that get a show/movie announced, star power attached, go dark for years, finally drop, have an absolutely fire intro sequence, become a success, and then behind the scenes bs unfortunately gets revealed to have happened. (Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Cuphead Show, Among Us)

  19. Though it’s been revealed the Impostors were chosen by Owen Dennis because they worked for MIRA, I like how the lowest level employee becomes a mastermind, and the hr employee becomes a bafoon. I’d argue that Impostor Orange is actually dumber than Orange themself

  20. Theirs a couple of the same frames in episode 6 where it looks like Red is giving like a goofy fan art type of back shot to Purple. I don’t know how the hell anyone hasn’t brought that to light since they’re a ship

  21. The security guard character and the one who set the events of the story in motion being the last survivors would make a horror writer throw up

  22. Admin, Communications, and Shields are not shown on screen, besides the map in EP7

  23. The show frequently resizes the room based on the intensity of the scene, the biggest one being the final confrontation in storage

  24. The backgrounds in this show are very well done and fit thematically. Over 5 people on the crew worked on it

  25. White and Green are the first characters we meet and they’re the first and last characters to die (I disagree with this since Green becomes an Impostor in EP1 but I just thought I’d include cus y not)

If you read all of this you must really love this show nice ok have a good one

These two theatrical scenes hit 10x harder for me than the final release ones

Not to dig up a dead horse, but when I think about some of my favourite scenes in Across the Spider-Verse, I look for the theatrical releases on YouTube, because the first versions hit way better, especially The Spot’s roar. I know they’re small differences but they feel way more fluent. Anyone else feel the same way?

(This movie had two different versions of it from sfx to dialogue in between Theatre release and Digital if you’re confused)

Who would you want the Impostor(s) to be in a potential S2

Owen Dennis the creator of the show said on a Yahoo interview, he’d like to keep things similar in a potential Season 2, meaning still on The Skeld with (presumably) the same 11 characters, just different Impostors, situations, and murders.

I think that’s an unfortunate way to go, but who would you want to replace the previous two? Me personally I’d want White and Purple.

More Patten Oswald and seeing the most crewmate of all the crewmates, be evil would be cool, plus Ashley Johnson is unsettling when she’s playing a villain.

Also in a potential S2 we for sure need more Lime, Blue, and >!to see the real Green,!< as some of the last couple alive.

What’s your favourite shot or aura farm moment from The Spot/Abyss?

For me it’s that brief moment in his origin story, where after he’s consumed by the dark matter he’s looking upwards (2nd picture down on the left) and it looks like he’s being consumed by a void. Such amazing story telling in that little sequence.
