Am I dyslexic?

Some context: I am 19F and have always had a hard time spelling since childhood. It took me longer to learn to read and spell. However, as I grew older, I became a better reader, and I enjoy reading a lot. However, reading aloud makes me anxious.

When I was a kid, I sometimes felt dumb because I couldn't read and spell well in middle school. I hated reading because it was hard for me to read, and I felt like I was stupid, so I avoided it at all costs. Reading out loud was also hard, I would get the pronunciation wrong and the teachers would look at me weirdly. Another thing to note is that even though reading and spelling were hard for me, math and science were easy to learn, and I picked them up fast.

In high school, I started to love reading because of my English teacher. She always assigned us interesting books, which made me interested in reading and made me realize I really enjoyed reading. I also have a very good imagination, so maybe that's one reason I love reading.

To this day, I am still a bad speller. For example, I get confused about how to spell "restaurant," and people's names are the hardest. I have always been ashamed that spelling is hard for me, and I worry it will affect the career I am pursuing.

I have also tried to learn how to spell better; in fact, I am still learning. It's quite hard, but I believe I am getting better at it, slowly.

With all this information, do you think I might have dyslexia, or am I just a bad speller?

Note: When I wrote this out, yes, I did use Grammarly to make sure my spelling is correct lol.

I am 19 years old, and my mom will not let me go to the lake by myself

So it’s summer, I have a license, I am using my mom's old car, and I live at home. I want to go to the lake by myself. I want to go there to relax, get ice cream and enjoy my own company. However, my mom will not allow me to go by myself; I have to go with her. I keep asking when we can go, but she’s so busy. I am so tired of waiting for someone so I can enjoy my life.

She says I can’t go because I will get kidnapped or graped if I go there by myself. I know some of y’all might say, “Go with your friends.” Well, sadly, my friends are too far away, and we just hang out by texting and FaceTime.

Some more context so you understand. I am a college student taking all of the courses online, and I do not have a job. I want to get a job, but there is nothing available right now, and I am taking summer courses online.

So what do I do? I need help.

Edit: Thank you all for your comments, I am reading everyone and considering them 🫶

I posted on Reddit yesterday about being a new admin, and what happened to me in the office for the first 3 days of my first job ever. I was supposed to go on Monday (tomorrow), but she texted me and said she does not need me in the office on Monday and to “wait and see if they need me on Tuesday and Wednesday.” In my last Reddit post, I said I heard them talking about other resumes and applications, and I assume they got someone new and that I am probably fired.

I want to ask all of you to please give me tips on being an admin so I can be better at the next job I take, or do better at this job if I still have it on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I said in my last post that I was very, very shy and not good at spelling because they were hovering over me, making me very nervous, which, in the end, made me look dumb.

So, once again, just tips and tricks of being an admin, so I can do better. Thank you, y’all. I greatly appreciated it.

Edit: tips on how to talk to customers, being confident, being more assertive and professional, and how to talk appropriately with coworkers. And anything in between would be greatly appreciated. ☺️

Edit: I got a call and I am fired. I am doing ok. Thanks for the tips once again. I am sad I only got 3 days of work I do feel like a failure but I know I am not.

let’s get into some context here

I've been at my job for 3 days (it's the weekend now, and I start back on Monday), and she is training me to take her position so she can have her baby (she will come back in a year or so). She has been training me, and I have noticed that she doesn't give me all the details I need to know. I feel like it is sabotage because she is insecure; she might be thinking she might lose her job or something, idk. (She worked there for 6-9 years, btw) Now this is my first job ever. I am still in college, taking some basic business courses, and my job is admin. For the first 3 days, yes, this is my fault. I have been very, very shy. I am getting out of the shyness, and on day 3, I was somewhat better, but I have noticed that she and another coworker (kinda of my boss, she does more of the admin work in the back of the office) are mad at me because I am not picking this job up fast enough. Another thing is that I heard on day 3, which made my heart sink, was them talking in the back room about other applications and resumes, saying, "Maybe that would be a great idea." Like what the f***k. I only worked here for 3 days, for god's sake, and I am already fighting for my job.

Now, another thing to note: I am bad at spelling people's names, and it is embarrassing. The lady training me and my boss stands behind me, watching me struggle, and I think they think I'm stupid. I am not stupid. When I get nervous, I blank out, and I can’t remember anything. I just stare at the blank sheet like an idiot, so yeah.

Any advice? I need some help.
