My [36M] girlfriend [32F] of one year ended up having drinks with some friends, one of which was a prior hookup partner. She slightly concealed these details from me and I'd like thoughts on how to approach this situation.
My girlfriend went to dinner with a female friend. Afterwards, they decided to meet up with the friend's fiance, who also had another friend "Jeff" with him visiting the city for the weekend. Long story short, they all know each other from working together in consulting and turns out, my girlfriend and Jeff hooked up with one another several times in the past. When she told me about their evening, she first mentioned him only as their mutual friend from their consulting days but sort of snuck in the fact later that they hooked up previously. I was invited to the events that evening, just declined, so I don't think she had any bad intentions for that evening, nor do I have any reason to think anything happened. But several factors are nagging at me.
- Her first inclination seemed to be just calling him a friend and not disclosing the fact they have a sexual history.
- Just in general, I don't find it overly appropriate where she is in a setting where it's another couple and then just her and a single male who she has a sexual history with, especially with alcohol fueling the events. At minimum, if she finds herself in that situation organically, I think she needs to be disclosing that to me ASAP. I didn't even know it was a possibility or that there was any potential for contact at all with any prior sexual partners.
How would you approach this situation if you were me? My current thought is to express clearly what I described above and that I don't find that situation appropriate, but not really take things further than that this time.
TLDR; Girlfriend got drinks with a small friend group including someone with a prior sexual history and wasn't forthcoming about it.
