File Transfer without wifi

I'm on nextui and wondering if it's possible and how I might transfer files from my android phone to my device without being on a third network. I can do a hotspot from my phone to connect the brick and I have access to a c to c cable, I just can't figure this out and any help would be greatly appreciated.

For context I'm away from home and was hoping to put a movie on it for my toddler. We've got like a 4 hour drive home.

Just sharing my set up after having this about a week.

Trimui Brick Hammer

- nextui cfw

- rockbox

- fleshandbones theme

- cheap CX31993 DAC

- 2016 Honda CRV (the most expensive part of this set up)

I've also added portmaster to it so I can play Stardew Valley and Balatro. Stardew can get a little choppy but no real complaints so far. Obviously playing GBC and GBA just fine.

I had some problems getting artwork showing in rockbox at first and I put this repo together with the solution. AI disclaimer on that.

I also put this together for finding rockbox themes if anyone is interested.

I am not proud of how it came to be, but I did want to share a new tool with you folks.

I am a full time web developer with frankly too much experience. Our corporate overlords have been breathing down our necks about using ai more. They track how much I use it, but now how I use it. So to that end, I have been working on a new way to browse for rockbox themes with a few more features than the existing site allows. I'm just hosting it on github for now. Anyway, enjoy:

Dad's who read: how?

My question isn't so simple as "how do you make the time?" I think everyone here is trying their best and prioritizing differently. I just happen to be an overweight nerd and prioritize hobbies well over fitness.

My question is more rhetorical: how do I keep my 2.5yo from pulling my bookmark out any time my book is on a surface she can reach for more than 30 seconds?

I'm assuming the answer is that I don't or that I put it where she can't reach.

Anyway, I've been lurking here a while now, about 2.5 years. First post. Love most of what I see in here.

The Ollee Watch seems relevant here.

I'm new to the sub. I love the vibe. I was surprised to see no one was talking about the Ollee Watch in here yet so I'm not sure if it is wholly relevant but I figured I would share anyway.

Its a replacement PCB that turns your old casio into a relatively smart watch. I just did the mod to mine the other day and really only have the step counter and timer enabled over the base functionality of the watch. plus i like changing the LED to an amber color instead of the green.

edit: there is a dedicated sub over at r/olleeWatch
