Sad to say, the Memphis subreddit has been officially hijacked by white supremacist apologists

This reply got me banned from the Memphis subreddit. Apparently, my reply violated the no hate rule. I had a post taken down last week because I called out a Zionist troll account. I’m disappointed to see this behavior from the subreddit for my city, which is a predominantly black democratic city.

If anyone from Memphis wants to create a new subreddit, similar to this one, I’m all for it! I hate that dog whistles are allowed on the Memphis subreddit, but calling it out gets you instantly banned.

Annoyed with leftist subreddits

Political subreddits have been grinding my gears. Recently, I was banned from r / socialistgaming for asking about the situation involving the game franchise Metro, at least that’s what I assume since I was offered no explanation and no way to ask. I rarely interact with the sub anyways. The subreddit is encouraging people to blacklist the series due to the author’s anti Zionist views. Personally, I am sympathetic to the Palestinian people, against Zionism, and have anti-Zionist Jewish family so yeah, that is where I’m coming from. Obviously, my question had no ill intent. I cannot ask the moderators about my ban either.

My frustration with political subreddits is that left wing subreddits are completely insulated and inaccessible. Left wing and socialist subs in particular seem to offer no discourse or real discussion. This is coming from someone who is probably more radically left than most.

Not only that, I have participated in real life socialist groups! I’m guessing maybe 0.1% of any of the users have actually engaged in leftist IRL activities, but I digress.

This is not a both sidesism or enlightened centrist post. I am without a doubt a leftist, but i hate that I cannot find any leftist communities on Reddit that are not on a banning rampage or outright echo chambers. IRL, socialist groups may screen potential members with applications and interviews. That makes sense, but to ban a user for asking a question in good faith… it’s Reddit for Christ’s sake. And I don’t see how you can prove a point without opening up to some disagreement or discussion. That is what public debates and inquiries are for.

At the end of the day, it’s Reddit so who cares. It’s not serious to me, but it’s annoying that I can find cool communities for certain things, but I can’t find a community for what I am most passionate about, which is world events/politics.

Interesting moderator behavior

I’m guessing I’m on a fast track to be banned from this sub, but I find it interesting that I post a video from Vaush’s YouTube page about the redistricting in Memphis, and the post is taken down by moderators. To be clear, no threats of violence were made on my behalf, Vaush, the author of the video I posted, did not use threatening language, and, while horrible opinions were abundant, no one in the comments made any threats.

What’s going on with this sub? There seems to be a serious lack of discussions about the redistricting here, whereas every Memphis related instagram I follow is posting about this situation. Could it be my post was not the only one to be taken down by the mods?

Supposedly I broke “Redditiquette.” I’m guessing this post will break the spam rule. I just find this interesting and am making an observation. Have a good week, everyone.

Edit: apparently, I was taken too savage of a tone with trolls. I will ignore trolls in this sub from now on. Not that engaging with them is beneficial. If anyone is curious about the Vaush YouTube video covering the redistricting, it is titled “it might actually be over for real this time.” Not a Vaush fan necessarily, although I do watch some of his YouTube clips from time to time. I just thought his commentary on the redistricting was relevant for obvious reasons.

It might actually be over for real this time

This redistricting is likely the end of our democratic republic. I encourage everyone here to stay informed and stay outraged in whatever ways you can. Don’t hide your head in the sand and wait for this all to rebound. What would you have done during Jim Crow or the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade? Time to find out.

Edit: Before anyone says “Vaush isn’t news.” You’re right! He’s not. He is a political commentator, but I don’t see any mainstream news outlets discussing this situation in the depth that him and other independent commentators do. I’m guessing this post will be mass downvoted and the comments will be filled with trolls, but I really want people to take this situation for what it is. I’d also love for anyone to link or recommend actual journalists covering this atrocity as well, but for the time being, it is independent commentators that are speaking up for us in the media landscape. I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of Vaush or Hasan, although I do like the video — that’s why I’m posting it here. I usually watch Secular Talk for political commentary, but Kyle Kulinski has not addressed the situation in Memphis very extensively.
Also, the title of this post is the title of the video that is linked. It’s not clickbait. This is the end of what little democracy our republic has maintained.

Edit 2: to no surprise, this post has been downvoted to oblivion. It’s ironic that I was accused of using a clickbait title while posting this video to the Memphis sub of all places. Anyway, I am just outraged at the moment (about the situation itself, I don’t use Reddit for karma farming.) It’s frustrating to me that no one seems to care about this in the city that this redistricting affects the most. Folks here are brushing this off and even advocating for voting, even though our vote has just been diminished. I will still vote, and anyone who votes will still vote. Telling others to go vote does nothing right now. Learn y’all’s history. Stay informed of current events. Turn off mainstream media and find some independent journalists and commentators that report factual information with the context (something that mainstream media fails at.)

Last minute post but where should I go for Cinco de Mayo? I’m looking for good food and good margaritas. I know of some places with one or the other. There’s restaurants with good food but no margaritas and others with bland food but good margaritas. Where can I find the best of both worlds? Right now, I’m considering Global Cafe.

This gave me a lot of headache, so I wanted to create a post for anyone dealing with this issue. The issue in question is that I could not get my Xbox series controllers to stay reliably connected to my PC via Bluetooth. They would randomly disconnect and reconnect at the most inconvenient times.

I tried updating the drivers, fiddling with Bluetooth and device manager settings, and ultimately resigned to playing with my controllers plugged in. The most common solution I found on Reddit and other sites was to use a Xbox controller adapter. This advice is still given even recently. So, I tried that. I thought it was weird that it was kind of hard to find the official Microsoft controller adapter and that it said it was for Xbox One controllers and Windows 10, but this is what was recommended.

I spent the 30 something dollars and… it did nothing at all. My controller disconnected even more. I returned the thing. It took a long time to get my money back btw.

The solution: I don’t see this particular solution being brought up when someone asks about their Xbox Series controllers disconnecting from their PC, which is why I’m making this post. The solution was to install a WiFi/bluetooth antenna into the motherboard (usually located in the back of your case in the IO shield with USB ports. The antenna screws on to the two gold nubs that was near the audio jack for me.)

Now, I can connect 2 controllers simultaneously without any noticeable input lag and no random disconnections. Again, I’m sorry if this is obvious to most people here. When I built my PC, I threw the antennas away because I thought they were some kind of tool. I ordered a cheap antenna from Amazon that was identical to the one that came with my motherboard. The ones I ordered in particular are $5 on Amazon. Search for “Bingfu WiFi antenna.” It is two L-shaped pieces.

I hope this helps someone in the future! Don’t listen to everyone saying to get the adapter (if you can even find it anymore.) Of course, this advice only applies if your PC has a Bluetooth adapter.

Also, apology in advance if I chose the wrong flair. I didn’t know which one was for best for this post.
