Brand new Grand Sport Corvette being picked up from a dealer and shipped to my house. Needs to be enclosed. Looking for quotes.

Shipping would be essentially ASAP, as I would be buying the vehicle later this week and the dealer will want it picked up quickly.

Shipping a brand new c8 across the country

Hey everyone,

I’m in the market for a grand sport and was going to order one but I found basically the exact spec I was going to order at a dealer but unfortunately it’s almost 800 miles away and flying out there and driving it back isn’t really feasible. The dealer said they would pay a third party shipping company to ship it directly to my house. Has anyone had this done before? I’ll be honest, I’ve never bought a car without seeing it in person, especially not one that costs $115k.

So I guess the first thing is, what shipping company should I be working with? I think it needs to be enclosed. I’m sure the dealer has a cap on the shipping cost but I got one quote for enclosed shipping from montway for $1750 and they said they’d pay that. Is there a better company I should look into? Also anything I should be aware of when buying a car sight unseen from a dealer so far away?

I’ve spent a week searching chevy’s inventory and every dealer within a 350 mile radius and this is the only one close enough to the spec I want to be worth it

Edit: thanks for the help everyone, I found a dealer 500 miles closer with an in-transit grand sport with almost the same spec so I put a deposit down and will hopefully be able to pick it up in the next couple weeks

2020 GTI BRP audio amp fuse blows instantly

I’ve been troubleshooting this issue on my ski for a couple weeks now. Essentially when I replaced the 15 amp fuse for the factory BRP audio amplifier it blows instantly. I checked the battery ground along with all the wiring going everywhere and there are no splits or tears or anything in any of the wiring and the ground is connected perfectly fine with no rust or corrosion to the battery.

Today, I disconnected the amp wiring inside the speaker pod on the left side and then replaced the fuse and it didn’t blow. As soon as I reconnect the amp wiring, it blows the fuse immediately even though everything is off. My assumption is that this means the amplifier itself is bad internally, is that a fair assessment? All the connections I removed for the speakers and the amplifier look fine inside so I assume it has to be something inside the amplifier. What are my options? Do I just have to buy a new amplifier for $450 or are there aftermarket options or something else I can do?

Issue with audio on boat, think I've narrowed it down

Hey all, I have a Jensen audio system in my boat - 4 speakers, a tiny circular head unit and an amp. 3 of the 4 speakers stopped working 6-8 months ago (but I found out today while troubleshooting that there is still faint audio coming out of them).

To troubleshoot today I:

  • Took the working (front right) speaker out and swapped it with the back left speaker - after doing that the 'known good speaker' started barely producing any sound
  • Swapped every RCA cable between the amp and head unit with each other - front right speaker was the only one that ever played noticeable audio regardless of which one I plugged in where
  • Checked all wiring to make sure there was no corrosion anywhere and disconnected/reconnected every wiring harness and audio wire (except the screwed in wiring from the amp to the speakers)
  • Finally, removed the two wires going from the amp to the front right speaker and tried swapping them to the outgoing connections on the amp to the front left speaker - no sound from the front right speaker after doing that

I assume this means the amp is shot? Is there something else I should check or something I could do to fix that issue, or is the fix to just replace the amp?

I will say, the amp has 2 yellow fuses and I wanted to remove them and check them but I could not pull either one out, even using a pair of needle nose pliers and as much force as I felt I could muster without breaking the fuse.

After routine maintenance on 150 mercury outboard, RPM gauge now reads very high

Hey everyone - I have a 2021 Tahoe 550TF with the Mercury 150 Outboard.

Yesterday I did the following maintenance (and disconnected the battery before starting):

  • Oil/Filter Change
  • Fuel Filter Change
  • Spark Plug Change
  • Accessory Belt Change

Everything went fine and the engine is running great (much better sounding than before) - however, as soon as I put it back in the water I noticed the RPM gauge is reading VERY high. Previously at 30mph the gauge would read ~3800 rpm and pegged WOT the gauge would show 5600 rpm which theoretically is about right.

After the maintenance, at 30mph the gauge reads around 5000 rpm and if I peg the throttle (which gets me to about 52mph trimmed correctly) the gauge now reads 7400+.

The engine doesn't sounds higher than the previous WOT did so I have to assume this is a problem with the gauge, but it was fine a few hours before when it was pulled out of the water and I've disconnected the battery before without the RPM gauge going haywire so I'm not really sure what might be the issue or how to diagnose.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
