Happy 250th Birthday America

Happy 250th Birthday America

As someone suffering with Alzheimer's, I often speak my mind and I do not mince words. I did that today with my blog post. If you agree with my thoughts, please share the post. Let's make some noise and maybe get money flowing for finding a cure for Alzheimer's.

If you disagree with me, leave a comment.

Happy 4th of July to those of you in the United States.

Pharma's Influence On The FDA

Over the past several days, I have written a three part series about the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) new drug approval process. I am sharing the last article of the series with r/Alzheimers because this article contains information about donanemab and lecanemab.

Sharing this article is not intended to be self-promoting. I believe the information is valuable and should be read.

This link should not have a paywall. https://gregsalzheimersresearchreport.com/p/pharmas-influence-on-the-fda?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=9112908&post_id=203584770&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=false&r=56wgoq&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email

Artist at West 94th Street Pub?

Thursday, June 18, I went to West 94th Street Pub to hang out while my wife was at a nearby hair salon.

This was a nostalgic visit because many years ago, I lived in Woodcroft and visited this bar often. I moved away from Durham about 14 years ago. I returned to the area last September because I am being treated at Duke for early stage Alzheimer's disease.

I was chatting with the bartender and a few people sitting near me. The man sitting beside me moved to a high top table because his daughter joined him.

They ate a bite and left the bar. A short while later, the bartender handed me a sketch. He said the man and his daughter left the sketch on their table.

The small sketch is me sitting at the bar.

I suspect the artist is the girl (teenager). If so, she is quite talented. Not to mention, the artist is quick. The father and daughter were only in the bar for about thirty minutes.

I love the sketch and I plan to frame it.

If the father or daughter happens to see this post, please let me know. I would like to say thank you.

Lecanemab

Has anyone stopped taking Lecanemab? Either yourself or a family member?

If so, why did you stop and what was the experience?

Thanks!

Finally Sold Our House and a Rant About Barnett's Garage

Hello Everyone!

So many of you offered suggestions and leads as we tried to sell our town house over the past few months. I am excited to say that it is contracted, and we expect to close this week. This is a tough real estate market for older properties. Thanks for your help.

I had a difficult situation this morning with Barnett's Garage on Union Street. My former business had one old truck left to sell. It is a 1992 GMC. About a month ago, I asked Barnett's Garage to tow it to their shop and diagnose a transmission issue. They determined the transmission needed replacing, and the estimate was about $2,200. The truck is worth about $1,000. I told Barnett's I would just sell the truck as is.

Between medical appointments and being sick, it took a while to find a buyer. This morning, a friend went to Barnett's to meet the buyer and complete the transaction. Barnett's told our friend that I owed $1900 in storage plus over $200 in diagnostic and towing (these are approximate numbers because I have not received the invoice.)

While Barnett's has the legal right to charge $45 per day for storage, I question why they would do this knowing my difficult financial situation due to my Alzheimer's diagnosis. Granted, they have a business to operate. Yet, their storage lot is huge, so the truck was not costing them lost income. It feels like a case of greed being more important than compassion.

My former company was a customer of Barnett's.

We left the truck at Barnett's. My friend is sending the title to me.

Am I wrong?

Pages Not Being Indexed

The moderator removed my original post. I assume because I included the site URL. I thought the URL would be helpful in answering my question.

Trying again without the URL.

I received an email from Google that says some pages on my site are not being indexed due to "blocked by robots.txt"

What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Thanks!

Farmer's Market

My wife and I attended the Farmer's Market for the first time yesterday.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. Our visit was a tad complicated because my wife is in a wheelchair.

The variety of the goods available more than met our expectations. All of the vendors we spoke to were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

We moved to Chapel Hill last September so I can be near Duke where I am being treated for early stage Alzheimer's disease.

We will certainly be regular Farmer's Market shoppers.

Thanks for the hospitality Carrboro!

Self Promo - My Alzheimer's Journey

I started writing a Substack blog about six months ago. It is a personal account of my experiences as an Alzheimer's patient.

I also write about treatment research, caregiving, the history of Alzheimer's, etc.

There are 350 subscribers (all free). The purpose of the blog is to help other patients and caregivers learn from my experiences. There are about 100 medical professionals and research scientists who subscribe.

I am attempting to seek donations from subscribers. I do not want to go to a subscription model because I know many of the subscribers can't afford it.

I am open to your critique and thoughts.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone!

I have started a new community focused on Alzheimer's research, new treatments, early detection methods, clinical trials, and even diagnostic equipment. I hope having a community focused on treatments will help r/Alzheimers remain the community for patients and caregivers to discuss living with Alzheimer'disease, disease progression, and caregiving.

Please come over to r/AlzheimersTreatments, join and introduce yourself.

This is my first experience as a mod, so please be gentle. I am learning on the job!
