You'll struggle to find a more versatile flats fly than a squimp
Had my friend & Sexyloops/Fulling Mill colleague Ronan over in Tokyo this week and we went out on the bay for some seabass. It was a tough night with just a few small fish over most of the charter until he connected with a nice 68cm fish right at the last minute.
Another simple bonefish fly that works everywhere.. Triggers like it too but it's a 1 & done job with them
Here's a simple, old school bonefish fly that often gets overlooked nowadays. A shame because it's a real killer, especially when you need something more subtle than the flashier go-to patterns. The kind of fly that forces you to accept that presentation matters so much more than all the little details you're adding to your flies.
Mullet box is coming along nicely.
Perch flavour bendback in the hope of encountering a large canibalistic perch soon.
Bendback size 4, body braid, lead wire at the head, SF blend.
Doing some of these for Scottish perch, the Japanese smallmouth bass like them a lot too.
SF blend for the perch, Fulling Mill salty fibre for the roach.

Bob Clouser's less popular version.. It looks a bit weird but it's deadly.
Going back to Scotland for a month so getting my pike & perch flies sorted out.
A quick run of synthetic clousers before work this morning
Putting a few of these in the box.
No need for complicated patterns. When it comes to shrimp. I'd even skip the "carapace" on this if it was for my own box.
A quick clutch of Albiewhores for my bay box. Tied using UV resin to secure the lateral hackle and flash rather than hot glue as per the original. I find it's a better/clearer finish and just as durable
I'm looking for a charter that can cater to fly fishing for pollock. Based in Ayrshire but willing to travel.
The only one I've found so far is Onyermarks down by Stranraer.
Any other suggestions greatly welcome
Went out for the first time in this year's mulberry season, they've been falling for a few days and there's still weeks of it to come. Had somewhere between 25 and 30 carp on my deerhair mulberry.
No strips or folded loops of too thin foam here, just the basic design that is so deadly.
