Like, am I crazy? These two do not look alike at all color-wise. G2 Superion is light blue and orange, while Nexus is a darker blue and red. Also, why on Earth would we even get a G2 Silverbolt? We haven't even gotten a separate G2 Motormaster in Generations(New Legends doesn't count, that's part of a set, and even still that took years)
Nexus doesn't even fully look good with Superion's frame, I have both and I think it's just okay. Do I think his frame will be similar? Yes, but it won't just be a recolored frame. Especially when you consider the fact that one of his limbs literally turns into a tank, and Brawl is the only combiner tank, and he has a completely different frame designed just for him(no idea how they'll do the other leg).
I think part of this confusion is how they've showcased him with Silverbolt's frame, but I personally believe this is because they were designed around the same time, and they didn't want to overshadow the Combaticons with his limbs, which is why they pushed them to 2027. My theory is that Skyfall/Skyguard and Breakaway will be released like normal as according to the leaks, but his frame will come with the other two members, like how they did Long Haul and Hook, and be sold through Selects or some other special way. Seriously, though, G2 Superion probably won't be coming any time soon, let alone be Nexus's frame.
Like, if this didn't happen, Toriel would've been trapped in the Dark World, no guarantee that the Fun Gang would've saved her
Sans is still crazy for this tho
"Oh, but you can get it cheaper-" that's not the point.
People don't seem to understand: the point of gambling is to make you think you're getting it cheaper. But the chances are so low for that on purpose to make you keep going.
The Psylocke one was pretty bad and I'll admit, I wasted time on that one. That was probably what made me realize how much the FOMO was getting to me. The Rogue and Gambit one was a little more justifiable since you're getting two skins for cheap no matter what(the total cost would be 3,000 units which is lower than normal), though this might be the fact I got it in 3 tries talking for me.
But then they lock an iconic comic skin behind one. And it's not even Legendary! It's an Epic skin that they had to edit in the next patch because they were lazy and didn't give him unique clubs or different flames, even though they did something similar already with the Born Again skin after feedback. You'd think they'd have learnt by now...
And now we're getting not one, but two of these events at once. And literally right after the last one, with an outfit people have practically been dying for. Strange probably won't see many people getting it, but it's a FOMO skin, so it wouldn't surprise me. Emma is going to sell like hotcakes, which is why they locked it behind one of these to further their gambling problem. Yes, this is NetEase we're talking about. But the people who buy these are part of the problem, because they're showing them that these will sell well and that they should keep doing this. The summer skins aren't even that good, imo, but people will get them anyway.
I'm just so tired of this, it feels so soulless in a game that should feel passion. Maybe I'm just complaining over nothing.
In case anyone's wondering, I made their outfits distinct on purpose
Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile debuted in MK 1993; Smoke and Noob debuted in MKII; Ermac, Rain, and Chameleon debuted in UMK3(Ermac wasn't officially canon till UMK3, despite being a rumored character since '93)
Also added Hydro and Floyd for the fun of it
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice deco and all, and I'm glad they didn't just do a package refresh when they easily could've, but... idk, it feels like more could've been done
It might be the lighting, but the bronze instead of gold, while not a bad choice, doesn't really fit as well as the gold did(for me anyway, others' opinions might differ). The metallic blue is nice, but I wish more metallic paint was used in general here, it would've made him shine better
Also, was it really that hard to retool his legs? Like, that was one of the biggest complaints about the original Legacy toy, I feel like that would've gone a long way to convince people to trade-in their Legacy figure for this. Or maybe even include his Mini-Con, Safeguard, though I know they're allergic to that.
To clarify, by 6th member I mean a new original character created for the team specifically, so Shockwave doesn't count as that was mostly done as a reference to that one episode(Powerglide's a whole other case)
The Stunticons got Offroad, replacing Wildrider; the Aerialbots got Alpha Bravo, replacing Slingshot; and the Protectobots got Rook, who replaced Groove(who himself got demoted to a chest piece). How come the Combaticons didn't? Were the members just that iconic in their own right that none of them could be replaced?
Granted, the new members haven't really taken off since Combiner Wars, Offroad and Alpha Bravo only appeared in one significant adventure together where they both died(tho Alpha's getting a new toy next year), and Rook died and was quickly forgotten about, so I don't think whatever new character they could've come up with would've lasted for long. Still, I am surprised he was the only Season 2 combiner to not get one. Was there ever a reason, or are they just the odd ones out?
Ik it's been done to death now with the 500 phases he's gotten over the years, but I've always liked the original idea/fangame, especially because the music used went hard, and while future takes would tarnish this I think if they kept true to this take it would still be decent
