MCAS treatment and weight question/experiences

For those who started MCAS treatments and didn’t experience much weight gain or any at all, or even lost weight, please could you share your experience? It might help give me the push to start treatment as I’m definitely concerned about gaining weight.

Common phrases said by enmeshed parents…

I’ve been wondering whether some of the phrases/comments we’ve repeatedly heard from my very enmeshed (and narcissistic) MIL are common in others with enmeshment.

I would almost feel validated if others have also experienced these kinds of comments.

Here’s the most common ones my husband/me get from his mother:

‘I’m going to die soon’

‘After everything I’ve done for you’

‘You used to be such a caring boy’

Do you get similar, or if not what are the most common comments you get?

How to deal with aging enmeshed mother?

My husband has a vulnerable narcissist, enmeshed mother - he’s spent the last few years setting very clear boundaries and going low contact and of course there’s been fall out (guilt tripping, mystery illnesses in the middle of the night from his mum, her recruiting other family members to ‘talk to him to make him see sense’). There is another brother who is very involved and who sees this differently - I.e. mum is lonely, she’s on her own, doesn’t see anyone and is getting old. His brother has voiced that he needs some help as he can’t cope with being the only person in contact with the mum.

The way this gets tricky is that his mum is aging now and does have some health issues and practical needs - my husband is very clear he doesn’t want an emotional relationship with her but is happy to support his brother with some of the practical stuff (e.g. mowing her lawn, etc).

I’m just wondering how others who still have contact manage the aging and practical aspects of parents where there has been/is enmeshment?

To add: she’s single, lives alone, doesn’t really have any friends (not a shocker I know!)

Splanchic pooling - symptoms?

What are the GI symptoms of splanchic pooling? Very soon after eating I get bloated, and instance loud gurgling and sloshing noises and feelings, and just feeling very full and heavy feeling. Could this be pooling?

I know most people experience systemic effects from this kind of pooling, like dizziness etc, but I’m wondering what GI symptoms people have?

I’ve ruled out delayed gastric emptying and Sibo etc already.

Test for motility

Is there a test that exists that is able to observe or measure movement of food through the different areas of the intestines - to see if there is an area of pooling/stagnation? I know there’s transit studies but they look at the total time small and large bowel, rather than seeing if there’s certain areas that are slower.
It’s in the context of a bowel resection whereby overall transit is normal-fast, but lots of symptoms suggest there’s an area in SI where things kind of get ‘stuck’ or pool, leading to lots of symptoms, only after I eat.
MRI and colonoscopy has ruled out visible adhesions.

MCAS and nervous system

Can anyone signpost me to any good videos that explain or describe the importance of nervous system/nervous system work when trying to improve or resolve MCAS and/or dysautonomia?

I do much better when I feel I have some solid understanding of something before giving things a proper try!
