6x gold stars or Rayquaza gold star?
I’m at a bit of a crossroads.
Options are to either:
- Hold the gold stars I have, and grade them in future if/when I can feasibly grade them with PSA.
- Sell the gold stars I have as is and buy a Rayquaza gold star (PSA 3ish).
I think Rayquaza gold star will have sustained high demand as a peak grail of the hobby. Not that it matters from an investment perspective, but it’s also my favourite Pokemon.
However, I am concerned about concentration risk and liquidity risk (I live in Australia, which is a much smaller market than the US or Europe, so buyer pool for a high end card is shallower if I needed to sell in future). Also, Rayquaza gold star is experiencing a ‘boom’ at the moment, so prices are higher even relative to other gold stars. Lastly, would I be ‘missing’ value selling them raw (noting I don’t have a feasible pathway to grading them with PSA at the moment)?
Thoughts on what is the better long term hold is welcomed!
The five ungraded gold stars are in roughly the following conditions:
Flareon: PSA \~4
Regirock: PSA \~5
Kyogre: PSA \~3
Mewtwo: PSA \~3
Treecko: Damaged/PSA 1 (maybe)
They’re ungraded as I don’t have easy access to PSA internationally, so would sell raw to fund the Rayquaza.
