My roomate stopped taking care of their fish. How can I help it get better?

My roomate has been struggling with some things in their personal life and due to that they haven't been taking care of their fish for the last few weeks. Ive been keeping up with feeding him and assumed they would do water changes but i guess not. He started off in a 2 gal tank with a filter and 50w heater. Got upgraded to a 7gal tank with built in filter and we had a 50w heater and live plants. That tank cracked so my roomate put him back in the 2 gal. He's been in there for about 2 weeks now. I found them a 5 gal tank on marketplace and it has been sitting for a few days. Today I finally went and got some gravel for the tank and transferred him over to the bigger one because I noticed his fins were in really bad shape. I took some plants out of my tank and put some in the new one for my roomates fish but its not that much for now. He already seems to be spreading his fins more and flairing them out. But they look extremely damaged. What should I get to treat him and how do I help him get better? I was reccomended safe guard by sea chem and also kanaplex. But im not sure if I should have kept him in the 2gal hospital tank and treated him or treat him in this bigger tank. I want the Lil guy to do okay 🙏🩷

Wtf does he have inbthe freezer

TW: DEAD ANIMAL MENTION !!!!

So my boyfriend has 2 roommates. One of them moved out tonight so we hung out and had one last hurrah. During this hang out session his roommate thats moving out informed us that just about a week ago he found out that the other roommate has had a dead cat in the freezer for the last year and a half. He claimed the other roommate told him a coworkers cat had passed and wanted to get it cremated but didnt have the moneyvat the time and didnt have freezer space so he took the cat and kept it in the communal freezer. My boyfriend doesn't know what to do. He feels bad removing the box that the cat is in and throwing it away. But we're both disgusted because we've gotten sick randomly over this last year and haven't been able to explain why and now this is starting to make sense. We assumed the box in the freezer was some type of food delivery like factor boxes but nope its apparently a dead cat. We haven't opened the box because we're scared to see a dead cat but we're unsure how to go about this.

Does my roomates fish have the beggining of Fin rot????

My roommate has had their betta for about 2 weeks now. He was in a 2 gal tank with a 50w heater light and filter. I just helped her and we got a 7 gallon tank and some plants and some plants for her fish. He was in his 2gal for those 2 weeks and the decoration skull that was in started peeling so it was taken and he was left in the tank with no decorations. When I helped her acclimate him and put him in the tank today I noticed some of his fins looked a little different than when she first got him? She's concerned if its finrot? I added pictures of the new tank he's in. He has an artificial log hide and some corkscrew val and hogwort as well as some duckweed. If it is finrot can we have some advice on how to treat it please 🙏
