What Canon is this?

For the life of me, I can't figure out what Canon model this is.

I found it on a marketplace, and I've spent way too much time comparing it with all sorts of models I could think of, but I just can't match it with confidence.

What really throws me off is that front knob/dial with the 5–10 markings and the red index line. I assume it's a self-timer, but I haven't found another Canon that looks quite like it. I am not an expert in Canon cameras either, so that's that.

Unfortunately, these are the only photos the seller uploaded (taken with what seems to be a potato 😅), so I don't have a clear shot of the model name.

Does anyone recognize this camera or have any idea what model it might be?

Thanks in advance!

Edit:
So yeah, it seems like this is a Chinon body 😂

X-T50 or X-E5 - buying decision

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to buy a camera, and right now my decision is split between the Fujifilm Fujifilm X-T50 and the Fujifilm X-E5.

I’d most likely go body only, since I already have a couple of lenses from my previous setup:

  • 7Artisans 35mm F1.8 STM APS-C (this is such an amazing lens for the price, btw)
  • Viltrox 28mm f/4.5

And later on I might add something a bit wider. In general though, I’m gravitating more toward compact prime lenses rather than zooms. I do plan on getting a better pancake as well.

The price difference between the two where I live is around $200, with the X-E5 being the more expensive option.

What I’d mainly use the camera for:

  • street photography
  • travelling
  • indoor/casual everyday shooting
  • documenting life in general

I’m honestly not too concerned about the usual “one has a flash / one has a flip screen” debate. What matters more to me is long-term reliability, sturdiness, and overall build quality. I want something that feels solid and won’t develop annoying issues down the line.

One thing worth mentioning is that I’m probably a bit more nitpicky when it comes to build quality and finish. I work in product design, so I tend to notice small things pretty quickly, whether it’s flex, uneven tolerances, creaking, loose dials, materials, or overall fit and finish. Maybe it’s also a bit of OCD kicking in 😅

That’s partly why I’m asking specifically about long-term ownership and real-world durability rather than just specs on paper.

I do prefer the X-E5 aesthetically, even though not sure that I can justify spending 200 bucks more only for the looks, if it's only about that, but I’m completely open-minded.

The main idea is that I don’t want to switch cameras every year. I’d like this to be my one camera for the long run.

For context, I previously owned an X-T30, which I no longer have, that’s why I still own the lenses mentioned above.

So I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually used these cameras properly over time, especially regarding:

  • durability/build quality
  • long-term ownership experience
  • comfort for daily carry and travel

I would definitely love to be able to live test these, but can't, so I have to pretty much just order.

Thanks a lot!

Fujifilm X-T30 mount flange

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased my first camera, a Fujifilm X-T30 III, and while mounting a new lens I noticed there seems to be a slight gap around the mount flange / silver mounting ring on the camera body.

I’m not sure if I’m using the correct terminology, but basically the silver ring around the lens mount doesn’t appear to sit perfectly flush against the body in certain areas.

Is this normal, or should the mount be completely flat against the camera body with no visible gap at all?

Sorry if this sounds overly paranoid 😅, it’s my first camera and I just want to make sure everything is fine.

Thank you!

Hey there,

So I recently got my Pocket 4, and I just noticed that the charging port’s alignment is kind of off.

I mean it charges and all, but not sure how it will act down the line. I can still return it as I have it purchased through a retailer, a few days back, but yeah.
