Type 1 Diabetic (UK 🇬🇧) - Today is my Day 1!

Hi everyone, F24 from the UK here!

I’m so excited to share the news that as a Type 1 Diabetic, I’ve been approved by my doctor to be prescribed Mounjaro and I’m taking my first injection tonight.

I’m currently 210lbs with a goal of 150lbs (roughly), hopefully I can make that by my wedding next summer! For a bit of context, I was diagnosed in 2023 as T1D and have since been put on the YPSOMED insulin pump and Libre 3 CGM. My blood sugar levels have been highly commended by my medical team, but have been noticing insulin resistance over the past year or so, ultimately resulting in higher insulin doses.

I tried to go through MedExpress, but as I’m T1D and not T2D, all online pharmacies rejected me. After my hospital appointment today, I am ecstatic to be leaving with an NHS funded prescription for Mounjaro, starting off on 2.5mg.

Before I take my first dose, does anyone have any recommendations, big or small, that could help me out on my journey? Whether it’s supplements you recommend, jab timings or anything at all, feel free to leave me some advice.

Excited to start this journey for myself and my future, looking forward to sharing updates with you all! 😊

Thank you.

UK prescribers of GLP-1, who prescribes to T1’s?

Hey everyone, F24 here from the UK, T1D since 2023.

I’ll try not to ramble on, but I’ve been up and down with my weight as long as I can remember. I’m getting married next year and would like to try out Wegovy or Mounjaro to get back to being myself again. I’m currently 210lbs at 5”7 with a BMI over 30.

I’ve tittered with the idea of going onto a GLP-1 for months, and now I’ve finally committed to the idea… I have NO idea how hard it would be to actually just get the medication. I’ve been rejected from MedExpress as they could see I was T1D after I put my GP details in.

I spoke to my care team the other month and they said while they’d be unable to get me GLP-1 prescribed, they would be comfortable with me going down the private/online route as long as I keep them updated. More than happy to pay for my own as long as it’s not an extortionate amount.

I’m wondering if anyone else has been in this position and if you found a suitable UK online provider that doesn’t need to check with your GP first/won’t find out I’d T1D.

Would be very grateful for any recommendations on providers 😊 TIA!

Type 1 Diabetics (UK) - How are you getting approved online?

Good morning everyone! I’m 24F from the UK and have been Type 1D since March 2023. After struggling with my weight for since I was 12/13, I decided I would like to try a GLP-1.

I have spoken to the care team at my local hospital and they said they had no issues with me taking it, but to keep them updated on any issues with blood sugar levels (if I notice any hypos etc). They mentioned I wouldn’t be able to get it prescribed through the NHS, which I’m more than fine with as I knew I’d end up paying for it anyway.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered through Med Express last night, but unfortunately woke up to a rejection email because they can see I’m T1D on my medical records.

Has anyone been successful in getting approved on an online legit prescriber? Any tips would be very welcome 🤗

Thank you!

Village Gym Leeds North - Prices?

Hi all, I’ve lived in North Leeds my whole life and used to be a member at The Village in Weetwood when I was a uni student. I vaguely remember paying around £40 a month with the student discount and absolutely loved it there.

I’m wondering if anyone has the current monthly price for the on-peak membership to use their gym, sauna, pool etc (adult prices) as I cannot find anything on their website and no one answered the phone when I called!

Thanks in advance 😊
