House on Parliament Steak Frites

House on Parliament Steak Frites

House on Parliament really lives up to the hype. Incredible steak frites, super flavourful and beautifully cooked. Delicious compound butter and peppercorn sauce, and the fries were the ideal balance of crisp and soft. I split it with my husband and we also got a caesar salad, which was very tasty as well. Hugo spritz was delicious too. Hadn’t had a steak in a while and it felt well worth the price ($42). The space is also really nice - many different indoor spaces and two beautiful patios.

Wouldn’t have thought to try this place if I hadn’t seen it mentioned in here so many times, so thank you!

Restaurant Impossible at Yueh Tung

Just watched the first episode of the new Restaurant Impossible series and I thought it was great. I’ve been meaning to try Yueh Tung for a while and I definitely want to go soon. The sweet soy noodles and chilli chicken look soooo good. I hope their business has picked up since the episode aired!

I think this show could really help the public understand how impossible the finances of a restaurant have become, especially in 2026 in a major city. $30,000 in rent alone!!!

I think Jen Agg and Aaron Sanchez did a great job hosting and I’m excited to watch more.

dirty martini pasta salad 🍸[homemade]

pasta salad summer is here!!! kicking it off with dirty martini pasta salad🍸🍸🍸

recipe below but it’s definitely a measure with your heart kind of dish.

cook 500g pasta shells in well-salted water and strain.

while it’s cooking, mix the following in a large bowl:

~1 cup sliced green olives + many splashes of brine

~½ cup sliced pepperoncini + many splashes of brine

the zest and juice of 1 lemon

~⅓ cup of olive oil

1 grated clove of garlic

~1 cup of mini mini bocconcini

add the pasta to the dressing bowl and mix well. keep tasting and adjusting until it’s so good and bright and tangy and briny that you kind of can’t stop eating it. let it cool completely in the fridge for a couple of hours for maximum marination and flavour, mixing whenever you remember. add a few more splashes of pepperoncini brine and olive oil before serving.

inspired by the queen of pasta salad, katie (@babytamago / thesundaystack)

p.s. in this pasta salad, cheap sliced green olives work perfectly (they’re the kind often labelled as pizza olives). save the castelvetrano olives for snacking or a cheese board! who has the time to pit and slice a million olives when it’s 25 degrees and sunny?! not me!! 🫒
