Looking for work...for non-profits

What non-profits are out there (non xtian based) that might need a helping hand?

I assume that we didn't make up this game last night...

I am going to guess this already exist...? But we thought it was fun when we came up with it.

Assuming it exist, what is it called?

  • One person is the 'central character' (lets all her Joan) and the director will say something like 'then there was the time in gym class when something that would change your life happened'. - Then a scene starts with Joan at the appropriate age and a gym class.
  • At some point, the director says 'but that was overshadowed by your first day at work' and this continues. The key here is Joan stays the player but as we learn more and more about Joan it influences how she is played - and the player is tracking all of these highlights into Joans life.

Anybody coding a personal solution yet?

I’m watching for the yearly subscription is due and thinking by that point I should be able to vibe code
A tool that’s close enough that I can dump YNAB. Anybody else already try?

Well, now what? (next game request)

Last Caretaker was one of my top 5 games. Now that I'm done playing that - at least for now - what should I play next? What was your follow up game?

Next online class suggestions?

Just wrapped up 4 week 'Uncertainty Workshop with Tim Paul' (was great). What would you recommend for next? Anything coming up you are looking for (online)?

Done... *sigh*

I really enjoyed this game - more than Subnautica 2 by far. But because I did the wander open world without any research I made some key mistakes that makes reaching an end game too much of a chore. Love playing without spoilers - paying the price now though.

Anyone else get to a point of realizing 'oh crap, I need that specific bio stuff I've been turning into fuel' or such?

Looking for a game that has NPC control like Soulmask

I enjoy open-world survival crafting sandbox. But I've done enough gather grass, chop trees, mine rocks. What I enjoyed about soulmask is the tribe management/automation. You capture a npc and they cut wood for you.

I often hear Conan, but have 160 hours in from years back (pre age of war and before that even) and can't see going back.

What else is out there that I can enjoy having a little army of thralls do the (basic chop/mine/collect) for me?

Improv jam in Yuma - special location and time for our Improv Jam this Saturday (July 18).

Instead of our usual library spot, we'll be at the Fortuna Mini Mall event center (11411 S Fortuna Rd Ste 200, Yuma) starting at 2pm.

Same jam though: two hours of games, coaching, and playing around with a great group of people.

Never done improv before? Come anyway. Been doing it for years? Come anyway.

It's free, it's open to everyone, and all you need to bring is a willingness to say yes, and.

need my next read

(edit: looking for my next read and why you suggested it)

Any suggestions? I've read...

  • The Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual
  • Truth in Comedy: The Manual of Improvisation
  • Jill Bernard's Small Cute Book of Improv
  • You Can Teach Improv (Yes, You!)

Currently reading 'Mastering Improv: A Deconstruction Manual', which is really good but avoid the digital version.

(after posting I noticed this thread showing off so edit to add the 'why' part - https://www.reddit.com/r/improv/s/KV9Bxv4CrD)

Buddhism interest? (non denominational)

I used to run a group years back called Open Sangha, where we would meditate for a bit then would present Buddhist teachings and topics and discuss them.

Although Buddhism can range from very much religious dogma, we leaned more toward the philosophy of things - basically just maintain a sense of happiness and perhaps even peacefulness!

My actual question - if I put something like this together, would anyone be interested?

How do you determine if you are going to take a chance on a game?

How do you determine if you are going to purchase a game before you buy?

I used to rely on the steam overall rating before making a purchase and I've found a fair number of overwhelmingly positive games are pretty 'meh' for me and that one of my favorite current games is currently tracking as 'mixed'.

(Although I will give a shout out to the steam '2 hours full refund' policy)
