Some of my current harness’

I’m a buhurt fighter but I’m also a medievalist nerd who likes to read treatises on combat techniques, accounts from medieval tournaments, pas d’armes as well as also loving collecting and putting my armour to the test.

I thought I’d post my two current harness set ups and 4 of my helm choices.

My main buhurt set up is the Milanese style set for which the cuirass is inspired by the Churburg S18 example. The rest of the kit is a basic Milanese style and when fighting, I pair it with my wolf rib mainly for the overall field view. I’ve also worn it with my reproduction bar grill helm which takes inspiration for the one in the book of tournament.

My other set is cuirass and scale skirt initially inspired by the effigy of Kunz Von Haberkorn but I wanted the scales to be pointier similar to those in the Tristan de Léonois manuscript circa 1420’s.

Both harness share the same sabatons, legs and gauntlets (for ease and cost) whilst the cuirass, arms and pauldrons are changed.

Material wise we have a mix of titanium and steel. The sabatons, cuisse and scale skirt are titanium. Everything else is hardened steel.

Overall weight on both harness without helm is circa 26kg and depending on helm it can range from 33kg to 35kg.

We also have a short discussion about the BI invitationals which are coming up in less than a month.

Extreme "Would You Rather" IRL

We played a part in Dara Tah’s most recent extreme would you rather video.

For the combat sports choice, the guys had to choose to fight a professional MMA fighter or 3 of our fighters and survive 2 rounds.

2 of the guys chose to face our fighters.

Give the video a watch to see how they did!
