Shoe recommendations?

I’m actually looking for shoes for my harnischfechten kit. They’re historical with smooth leather soles and I’m honestly over the slipping and lack of internal support.

Ya’ll over here seem to be more open to sneaking in some modern convenience into your kits, and have heavier armor on similar terrain surfaces; I would love to hear any suggestions or makers that you like.

I was hoping to find something that is still flat bottomed that will look okay in and out of sabatons, preferably without any majorly obvious tells in the exterior material.

Thanks!

Cheap mace / 1h axe for buhurt?

Title says it all. I need a cheap spare weapon. I'd prefer mace but axe might do as well. Maybe some facebook smiths? I dont know them

First kit sizing

I'm fairly new to the sport and still younger (18 going on 19), so unsurprisingly I'm still growing in both height (and embarrassingly) width. Growing out of a potentially thousands of dollar kit is a fairly prominent fear of mine.

So I was wondering how much "give" the average kit has. Like if I have a brigandine made to my measurements, how much leeway would I have before I outgrow it, or is it fairly subjective to the type of equipment I'm getting?

Question for the Pavlo Kozak crowd

For everyone who has had experience with him: after your initial order, when he did contact you next?

For some context, I don’t ask out of impatience or anything like that. I refuse to ask him for turnaround times so that way I don’t put myself into anticipation. I know that the wait is part of the game. The only thing I’m curious about is when I’ll hear from him since I have ordered my entire kit from him in pieces starting with my helmet in November 2025 & spread out till April 2026. His communication has been great when I’ve wanted to change things or complete deposits I’ve put down, I’m just curious what everyone’s experience has been about when he reaches out 🤙🏼

Who makes samurai kits?

Hello all I’m gradually getting into Buhurt and I’m working with my local team a lot and they’re great guys and all but I actually want to see about samurai/eastern for dueling but I don’t know exactly where to find anyone that makes kits/parts for them. Sadly there’s no one local to me that can help point me in the best direction so I’m hoping that someone here can help me get in a direction to fulfill this. Thanks in advance!

ROA helmet with black cross + polished armour – BI/IMCF authenticity question

Hi everyone,

I'm currently putting together my kit and I need some advice before my helmet is finished.

I've ordered a Romance of Alexander (ROA) helmet with the black cross but the rest of my armour is polished steel, not blackened.

My question is: Would this combination pass BI/IMCF authenticity checks, or would the black-cross ROA helmet require the rest of the armour to be blackened as well?

I still have time to change my order if necessary, so I'd rather sort this out now than end up with a helmet that won't pass authenticity.

I even contacted the BI but I didnt get a response, so i tried asking other people and i got different answers.

Has anyone competed with a similar setup, or does anyone know how BI/IMCF authenticity judges usually interpret this?
Thanks a lot!

Become a marshal

Howdy folks, couple of quick questions about marshalling.

Can you be a marshal and a fighter? I would guess you can't do both at same event

How would I go about getting started on becoming a marshal and are there differences between say BI and US IMCF marshal requirements or do people typically just do one or the other?

Thanks in advance

HMB in Luxembourg

Historical Medieval Battle includes Buhurt too.

Now if people who live in Luxembourg doesn't know, we do exist here.

We do train especially in Foam Gear, and Armour for those only who realistically want to spend 4k € .

We are building up. And we are happy to see that Buhurt is alive!
