Songs to build a public singing repertoire to practice

I performed a big Whitney song at my mums wedding which was also my first time ever singing infront of a crowd, rookie mistake I know!

The Whitney song was manageable in lessons, so I have the technique and skills, but i unfortunately sounded terrible because of nerves 🥲 I wanted to ‘showcase’ my ability forgetting that nerves massively affect the voice, so I was a pitchy cracking mess when in lessons with my coach, I sing it very well.

So, I want to build a repertoire of 4-5 songs (pop, MT, suitable for a soprano) which are manageable under nerves (so less demanding) but that still allow me to improve vocally. My coach says I have a pretty strong rich lower register (down to about E3) so not everything needs to be very high . I want songs that aren’t super challenging for me since that’s not reliable under nerves, but that still show strong vocal ability

I’m planning to sing at open mics, karaoke etc at pubs, so maybe a mix of fun upbeat and ballads

To give you an idea of what I’ve sang and my ability etc:
Stone cold, dancing with the devil - demi lovato
If I ain’t got you - Alicia keys
I have nothing - Whitney Houston
Colours of the wind - Pocahontas
I dreamed a dream - les miserables
Still the one - shania twain
Quiet- Natalie weiss
Crossing a bridge - Anastasia
Suddenly seymour- LSOH
Shallow - a star is born
Hopelessly devoted to you - Olivia newton john
Make you feel my love - Adele (I love Adele songs I feel they really suit my voice!)

But Demi and Whitney are a no until I’m very very comfortable lol

Spasticity flare ups years post surgery

F22 left hemi

My spasticity no longer massively affects my walking since having my surgeries as a child. However, as an adult the mild spasticity that remains is still a problem even though there’s no apparent stiffness or functionality issues.

I feel buzzing/vibrating and tickle down my leg a lot and often get this squeezing feeling with an urge to stretch, and sometimes I will have spasms where I kick involuntarily. At the peak of these spasms where I kick, i can only describe the feeling like you’re gonna sneeze and you have that tingle?

The twitches and spasms really mess with my sleep as it’s so uncomfortable. I have a night splint and a massage gun and they only help temporarily. Stretching helps but as soon as I stop stretching it starts again.

I was wondering if I should try Botox or baclofen and add gabapentin/ pregablin if the anti spasticity measures alone don’t solve it?

I’m going to be asked to be referred to a private spasticity clinic and neurologist as when I tried to go NHS the wait list was 8 months.

Pre surgery I used Botox in the same muscles giving me issues atm and I responded positively to it apparently (I don’t really remember how it felt lol)

I wonder if this is purely spasticity (low level contractions) or if it’s nerve related as well?

Does anyone else experience this? What interventions help/ have helped?

Driving advice

So my mum’s just recently bought me my first car to practice in (I’ve been learning for nearly a year purely through lessons) and it’s a Japanese import so the indicator is on the right side. I’m a left hemi so I use a steering aid on the right side. My left hand is functional enough to grab things and operate the indicator (I didn’t struggle when it was on the left) but now it’s very difficult because I’ve got to hold the steering aid and simultaneously indicate on the same side, and that’s even more difficult having to switch signals on leaving a roundabout whilst still turning

I don’t know if it’s just a matter of getting used to it or a genuine accessibility issue. I wasn’t present when my mum bought the car but also she didn’t take it into account.

I’ve looked into indicator crossover arms but they can be quite expensive and I’m not covered by motability etc (UK) as I don’t receive PIP

Does the form have to come back before I can get insurance?

I have left side cerebral palsy and I’ve made DVLA aware through disclosing I have a detachable steering aid on the tests I’ve taken. I thought that was sufficient as I’ve never been told by instructors or doctors that I’d be unfit to drive.

Last week I got a letter with a fitness to drive form (presumably my last examiner notified them) I’ve filled it in and sent it, but I’m just worried it’ll take a while to hear back since drs need to be contacted.

On compare the market etc, it asks if I have a health condition and whether I have restrictions. As I haven’t heard back yet, I can’t put yes or no, and there’s no other option to let me explain that I’m waiting for approval. So I’m wondering if I should do it over the phone?

But as I said, I’ve never been declared unsafe due to my CP or any other reason by my instructor.

I’ve got my car coming today so I just wanna get everything sorted asap. It’s a standard automatic with no disability adaptions made to it.

I had a doctorate interview and I want to robotically affirm I got in

Is ‘I got accepted into GCU’ specific enough or do I need to include ‘I got accepted into GCU 2026’ or ‘I got accepted into GCU 2026 for my doctorate’ or go even further ‘I got accepted into GCU 2026 for my counselling psychology doctorate’

I just don’t want it to be too long and not fluid

I’ve been listening to subliminals and trying to robotically affirm, and my goals are to go up a cup size and just get curvier. I have gotten a sudden motivation to start working out and have realised my goals are semi possible via working out (maybe not the boobs but the rest)

But yeah it’s very difficult to not check when I have to get changed and shower etc every day like it’s not something I can not think about/ ignore
