Applied with arrest record without conviction

I have applied for GE a day or so before my wife and my kids and they have already gotten conditional approval to schedule interview, I however are still waiting. I have 4 F3 felony theft charges in my arrest record but did ARD program resulted in no conviction, I can expunge my record next month and this case was from 2019 so over 5 years now, I have no gap in my employment history even with this and never had anything new since this not even a speed ticket or anything like that. If I have to take my wife and my kids in for interview I will, but just trying to wait a little longer to see if my application will change, I was honest on my application. any thought?

Pilot and FA have the highest risk of radiation related cancer?

I just read this article today from Harvard medical school that saying Pilot and FA have the highest risk of radiation related cancer than any other profession. Have anyone heard of this?

https://hms.harvard.edu/news/pilots-flight-attendants-have-greater-risk-radiation-related-cancer-death-other-professions

It is very interesting that flying high have this kind of risk vs land. Along with long hours and now this.

Sudden interest in other people braces

I never imagine I would be interested in looking at other peoples teeth until I put on braces myself and going through all the post in this community, it is interesting to see what other people do and with before and after pictures. This also help with knowing our not alone and that the end result are worth it.

My braces journey began 7-30-2026

I am currently 45, my teeth is nasty and ugly and I never wanted to smile much because of it, recently I decided I might want to change career to be a flight attendant and need that perfect smile, so I went ahead and did it.

It was very crowded so they told me I need 4 premolar extracted which I just did that today, hopefully it will look just like how the simulation they showed me. It’s gonna be a long 2 years.

Relationship

Is everyone planning to become a flight attendant doesn't want a relationship or planning to be single for a long time? or are you just very young most of you? If you are in relationship already, how is it impacting your partner going for this career?

Commuting while reserve if base not near home for United and AA

Does anyone know the commuter policy for both United and AA?

The closest base for AA will be PHI, and closest base for United will be EWR, I am about 1 hour away from PHI and 2 and half hour from EWR.

If I go through training and my base is not any of those and far away from home, what are the chances i get to fly home on flight benefit each week while being on reserve? How long are the reserve, I know I can request transfer after 6 months.

My wife is freaking out telling me i can't live somewhere else and that we have children, i try to explain to her that things will be tough first few years and will get better, but she say we might as well be divorced.

Changing job

For those who got the CJO and then training date, did you give 2 weeks notice right away from your current job before the training? also once your in training is it pretty much good to go if you study hard and pass everything? and for those that failed in training, what did you do? did you find a new job or try to go back to your old job?

Is knowing how to swim a requirement for FA

Does airline require you know know how to swim? like AA and United, or does the training only require you able to jump into the water and get to the raft safely? For those of you who went through Training, can you tell me more about it?

2 year plans to be Flight Attendant

After working in the IT for more than 20 some years, I realized I don't just love interacting with people of all levels and culture, I love when they are happy and satisfied with the best service I give them and in return I get that sense of pride of satisfaction myself. I don't want to sit behind an office desk from 8-5 for the rest of my life, I want to chase a new lifestyle that people and company that need my skills and fit what I'm looking for, hence Flight Attendant.

There will be big pay cut, I'm not worry about it financially because I will be debt free in 2 years, my wife makes very good money, and with the beginning salary of Flight attendant, I have no problem paying my share of mortgage left each month. I am married with 2 children, they are older but not in college yet, my wife does most of the school planning and doctor trip because she have more flexibility than my job. I told her in 2 years I'm gonna start applying for FA job, her biggest concern is that I will never be home for them and I might have to relocate. I assure her I will make it work and I will be home whenever I can. I also believe my mother in law will also move closer to her within 2 years so that would help dramatically. I think she is just scare that she will have to take on more by herself when I'm not home and I understand, I really wanted to do this and be the career for me to finish in.

I live outside of PHI Base, its about an hour drive. EWR is about 2-2:30 hour drive, so the first choice would be AA since they have a base in PHI, but I also want to do United as I like them better. Either way I would be ok to relocate and transfer later on. I just have to convince my wife that things will be fine, I don't want to regret not doing it or trying it out, if it doesn't work out I can go back to IT job for sure.

I don't really get home sick, and I can be very independent by myself going from place to place. right now I am getting braces put on so I can have the good set of teeth for smiling, I am also going to learn how to swim because it a good life skill to have and its somewhat needed for training if selected. I am setting myself up to be successful.

I believe in myself that I'm very fit for FA job, I want to chase it. the commuting, the relocation, the salary, I can handle it whatever thrown at me. I am just wondering if anyone married or have a SO decided to change their job to becoming FA and how did you manage to keep things together and support each other.

Thanks
