It started with the Kill Team (and great terrain) from Octarius, which took me ages to paint, but as soon as I saw the Armageddon Box, I blitzed through finishing them up. I was going to get the box anyway to add to my Sons of the Phoenix Space Marines, but as the reveals rolled out, it was clear the Orks were kind of "winning" in terms of really exciting new minis. I've had a soft spot for Blood Axes ever since I borrowed a friend's Codex Orks to read as a teenager. I just think Orks trying to function like Imperial military, doing it kind of badly, but it works anyway, is really fun. I've been having a blast painting the new box, and look forward to having a go at the big Dakkarig soon! Waaaaaaagh!

From the moment I saw the previews, one question plagued me: "Can I fit a candle inside that halo?" The answer is yes.

I won this Slasher Host box as my prize in the 2024 Armies on Parade competition, the box arrived in January 2025, then I moved house twice and have finally got the whole thing built and painted!

When I shared my 2000 point army with friends, they said I need "something fast", so I've added some Jump Pack Intercessors! I'm excited for the upcoming Armageddon box with Vanguard Veterans, because the extra bling will definitely fit Sons of the Phoenix!
