Space Mountain - is the DL version as rough as the DW?

Hi - my 7 year old daughter and I will be making our first trip to DL next month. She's been to Magic Kingdom before and really disliked Space Mountain. Mostly because it's a bit herky jerky. I think that combined with being in the dark unnerved her.

She's done fine on some bigger coasters that are smoother. Trying to figure out if SM will be a skip for us based on MK experience. Relatedly, is Matterhorn a rough ride for a smaller child?

Pricing after July 4 sale

Hi - going to be in SD in mid-July. There's a 4th of July sale where ticket are $59 for 2 days. We won't get to used a second date so not concerned about that. But will the $59 portion go up after the sale ends? Not sure what the standard pricing is for a midweek in July.

Thanks.

Struggling to find best way to use Chase Points for flights

Hi - have accumulated some Chase points and struggling to find a good opportunity to put them to use at a good effective rate. Newark is the airport I use the most which is a United hub. I have the United Explorer card which allows me to book Basic Economy and still check a bag for free. I find this saves me about $100 per flight.

The Chase travel portal doesn't allow you to book Basic Economy for flights, so it generally is more expensive to book flights through there and decreases the redemption value of the points (compared to booking the basic Econ).

Is this just as simple as waiting to use the points on a flight that United doesn't service or isn't the best deal and then use them for a different airline? Is there a diff redemption strategy for flights that you use?

Would skipping flights and using them for hotel stays yield a better redemption value given the above? How do you guys realistically make the most of your points?

Edit: I mainly use Sapphire Preferred. I understand I can xfer the points to United and use them that way. United gives 1.0 redemption on booking through them.

My understanding was that wasn't a great redemption value? I guess the question is more is that a good use of points or is there a realistic path to using them effectively without having to book a Tier 6 hotel in Bora Bora.

Deciding between parks and 1 or 2 days

Hi - going to be in SoCal in July with my 7 year old and trying to figure out which park to do between Disneyland and DCA and if a 2nd day is needed or not.

My daughter fashions herself as a little bit of a thrill seeker and isn't really into classic Disney or the princesses - I know blasphemy. We did MK last year and she had no interest in character meets and some of the other charms of the park but wanted to concentrate on the rides.

According to her, the best rides were Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Jungle Cruise, Pirates and People Mover. She thought Little Mermaid, Small World, and Peter Pan were just fine and did not like Winnie the Pooh. Unfortunately, Tiana and Big Thunder Mountain were down for maintenance.

My inclination is to do DL and have DCA optional but considering we already did MK does that make sense?

For DCA, I think Guardians might be too much for her. Not sure about Incredicoaster... the loop might be a little intense at this age. Is there enough at DCA to warrant a second day?

Other than a sale why would a dealership take down a recent car listing?

Bit of a strange one and more out of curiosity.

Was looking into buying a used Volvo XC60 from a BMW dealership. One of the reasons I decided against it was it was difficult to get an appt for a PPI at a Volvo dealership - they were all several weeks out and I needed a car sooner. The dealership was pretty adamant that I wouldn't need the inspection cause they're a reputable dealership and did their own inspection when they took the car in (apparently from a KBB sale).

Out of curiosity (and a little remorse) I checked to see if the car was still there and looks like they sold it to a smaller out of state dealership. That dealership put a post for the car with pictures coming soon. Within a couple of days the page for the posting disappeared but it doesn't appear as if they sold the vehicle.

Any thoughts on why they would take down the posting so quickly other than a sale? Wondering how likely it is they did their own inspection and found something wrong with the car and are either fixing it or sending it back or if there's something else I might not be thinking of? Curious if I may have dodged a bullet here.

Tourism Trends

Hi All - seems like the general consensus was that tourism was down in the area least year (maybe the last couple?). Notably because Canadians may not be visiting the US in the numbers they did before (last spring and summer was the height of tariffs and a lot of rhetoric).

Curious if anyone has a feel for how things will be this year. With air travel up, folks may want to do more local vacations.

Model 3 Highland Grey - a lot of fine scratches showing

Hi - previously had a 2023 M3 in white. Had absolutely no issues with the finish of the paint (possibly because white didn't show as much). I've now had a grey M3 highland for 3 weeks and there are fine scratches in a swirl pattern on the hood and a couple on the side of the door.

they're fine scratches but they're driving me nuts considering the car is brand new - it hasn't even been through a car wash yet. Is this normal? Is the paint / finish just bad? I've had a grey car before and never experienced anything like this

HBO Max Unavailable

Hi All - I can't seem to get the HBO Max app working and caught in an endless loop.

The app tells me that I need to 'get the newest version' and to update. If I click to update, it'll spin forever.

I have deleted the app and tried to re-download. I'm only given the option to download it (and subscribe) via Prime, which I don't want to do.

Based on another thread, I went here (https://www.amazon.com/WarnerMedia-Global-Digital-Services-LLC/dp/B00XZFCVK4) and downloaded App Only.

It doesn't seem to be doing the trick for me. HBO Max still needs to be reinstalled from the cloud, which it does. But when I try and open it I'm stuck back in the loop.

Tried to follow the directions from this thread but not finding success. https://www.reddit.com/r/fireTV/comments/1l5sfdz/cant_find_regular_max_app_on_fire_tv_only_finding/

What am I doing wrong here?

Hi - looking for a simple trunk based bike rack recommendations. It would mostly be for my 7 year old daughter's bike to go to the park. I may eventually want to put an adult bike on there as well, so should be able to hold 2 bikes.

We'd just be going locally to the county park - not long distances. Putting a rack up on the glass makes me feel uncomfortable and I don't have a hitch, so hoping there is a simple trunk resolution that won't be a pain to setup each time we want to go for a ride.
