Pursuant to Committee Rule 7, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics (Committee) determined to release the following statement:

The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), is reviewing allegations that Representative Chuck Edwards may have created or fostered a hostile work environment and engaged in sexual harassment in violation of the Code of Official Conduct or any other applicable standard of conduct.

The Committee notes that the mere fact that it is investigating these allegations, and publicly disclosing its review, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred.  No other public comment will be made on this matter except in accordance with Committee rules.

North Carolina is 50th out of the 50 United States in workplace requirements. We should have more discussion on child care and maternal benefits.

I want to organize information about Chuck Edwards investigation by the House Ethics Committee.

How Did This Start? The House Ethics Committee recently publicly requested information from any victims of sexual misconduct by a member of Congress and if others are aware of such incidents.

What Happened? The House Ethics Committee is investigating allegations of sexual harassment against GOP Rep. Chuck Edwards. The committee was recently contacted by a witness, who described having witnessed improper behavior. Two former staffers of Edwards office have responded to the public request by the Committee.

When Will A Final Decision Be Made? The Committee releases an extensive final report or a statement. There is no timeline. Chuck Edwards is not restricted from his Committee assignments.
