do you really have to register with CASS to get temporary residence?

im so confused by the health insurance requirements to get temporary residence. at first, i was under the impression that private health insurance would suffice. but now reviewing it, it seems like it is mandatory to register with the state insurance? which, looking it up, would cost around 2500 lei and be a massive headache because i dont have any documents yet... could anyone who has done this already advise?

is it normal to wait two months for the igi appointment for permis de sedere?

applying for permis de sedere under grounds of family reunification. i recieved the type d visa and entered the country, gathered the documents and went to igi to apply for permis de sedere, only for them to tell me, we wont take the documents now, make an appointment online. i looked online, first appointment is 2 months away. t w o m o n t h s. i have all the necessary documents for permis de sedere sitting on my desk, but they will not even begin the process of my application for two months? then, i have heard the actual application can take another 3-6 months to process. in this time, i dont have a CNP, so i essentially dont have the right to do anything. wtf? is this really the case? anyone who did this, can you share what did you do in these months? is it really expected to sit on my documents (which have expiry dates, btw) for 2 months before these guys will even look at them? (they already took 2 months for my visa, where i sat lonely without income, and im very tired of being broke without the right to work or have healthcare or do anything)

romanian family reunification visa- how long does it really take?

(I am sorry for writing in english, I dont speak romanian well yet:( )

submitted my documents in the romanian consulate in London on May 4th (46 days ago). I was told they are usually done in 30-45 days when I submitted. today I went to ask where is my visa, as it still says it is pending for decision on the website, and the lady at the consulate said she has no update and that it can take 3-4 months?! but reading romanian law, igi must issue an opinion within 45 days, and the visa must be approved or denied by the ministry of foreign affairs within 60 days:

(lifted directly from the law) " The applications for a long-stay visa shall be settled for the purpose of granting a long-stay visa or for the

purpose of refusing to grant a long-stay visa, within a period of up to 60 days from the date of their submission, following verification of the fulfilment of the general conditions and determined by this Emergency Ordinance. "

so what the hell does she mean 3-4 months?!

anyway, i would like to ask if anyone else has been through this and how long it took them. and if they really take over 60 days, how i can hold them accountable (they treated me and my husband like absolute shit and I am tired and angry)

romanian family reunification visa- how screwed am i?

hi! so ive been applying for a romanian family reunification visa to come live with my husband in romania. we made all the documents in my husband's family address as that's his legal address, and the notary wouldn't allow us to put any other address, however hes actually living about an hour away in a rented place that he moved to several months ago. the IGI (romanian immigration services) went to visit his family house to check he lives there today and his family told them he doesnt live there anymore 😭😭😭

he called them up and explained the situation but I have no idea if ill get rejected over this, its been over a month for them to even look at the file and im desperate:( people around us keep saying its ok, they just want to check he exists and such but im really worried, has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice? literally noone picks up the phone, not the consulate, not the embassy, not the romanian immigration services, and we've sent an email but no response

thank you for any help:)

tldr: they ask you for a random extra document that is not mentioned anywhere on their website- an invitation from your spouse/other family member. also, wait times are SIGNIFICANTLY longer than stated on their website.

Apologies if this is not 'travel' enough, will move elsewhere if necessary. I would just really like that noone else falls into the same trap as me, as the lady at the consulate informed me that everyone who came to make this visa had the same issue and they have been begging the people who operate the visa application website to update it for ages.

So I applied for a Romanian long stay visa to gain the right to live and work with my Romanian spouse in the beginning of April. First, it took a month to get an appointment. OK, I can take that. In that time, I carefully gathered every document listed on the official website where I was given the appointment, plus a lot of extra proof just to be sure. Today I turn up to the appointment and I am instantly rejected because I am missing 'a notarized invitation from my spouse to come to Romania'. NOWHERE does it say this online. Not on the website, not on any immigration lawyers website, not when I went to the immigration office to check, nothing. Get a bonus- the wait time (once I have payed 150 euros for my spouse to make this and fast track post it to me) is going to be 60 days now, due to the new EU system. 60 days! And another week of waiting for this new document, and another 150 euros in notary and postage fees down the drain (they said that if my spouse was there, he could simply sign a paper rather than me needing a notarized invitation, but I cannot just teleport him to the consulate now, and they wouldn't accept him talking to them over the phone). And wtf am I supposed to do in these 60 days? I already have to cancel and rebook all my flights... :(

so yes, dont make the same mistake, the website lies to you, they will lie to you over the phone, you **need** this invitation even if they explicitly tell you everything that you need :')

(fck migration laws, this shit has cost me 2k euros and counting)
