Oil change & sump bolts :^)

Oil change

Hi, I live in the south where it's hot and humid, so I've use 10w-40 oil. I try to change it every 1100-1200 miles, and I'm about coming up on 6.8k miles on the odometer.

I recently replaced the OEM drain bolt on my XR150L with a magnetic sump plug and switched the aluminum washer to a copper one for improved sealing. I’m considering upgrading further to a quick‑drain style plug or valve to simplify future oil changes.

Has anyone installed a quick‑drain sump plug on the XR150L?

I know alot of people have skid plates and a large protruding quick drain might interfere

If so, which model did you use, and were there any fitment or reliability issues over time?

Right now the magnetic one works great. Finding little bits of metal here and there. Probably between 80 - 100 ug on the first bolt on and off as a thread test when I first unpacked the bolt from the mail.

I also keep the old drain bolt on me when riding. Incase something happens to the current one. I also saw a bunch of colored (probably anodized) sump bolts on ebay. Purple, red, blue , green , black, gold , etc. Super cool. Anyone swap theirs?

My XR is oem besides that bolt. Next is the pegs and then headlight upgrade.

I'd love to hear what you guys and gals have !!! Thanks. ☺️

Gas meter

Hey all, I've had a xr150l 2015 since February 1st-ish 2026. First real motorcycle ever. I love it

Question: I use my trip meter as a fuel gauge. I usually refill around 100–110 miles and it takes about 1.2 gallons, meaning I still have around 0.8 gallons left. At what mileage does the ON position stop pulling fuel, so I know when I’ll need to switch to RES?

Thanks

I found Air Factory Mystery

Look what I found in a drawer! A full bottle of air factory mystery! Back during pre covid - pre 2020 - I used to smoke this favor for years.

My favorite. And I just found a bottle. I don't know if they still make this or not. This flavor is the frigging best. If you know - ya know... if any one know if they still make this or not I'd like to hear ..

Update #4

This is update 4. Still zero pain. Just a little sensitive. I've cut the lower left and right corners of the cuticle so it stops digging in the corner of my toe. AMA <3 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Update #3

I cut it shorter and the middle is still attached , I'd give it about a week when it comes off I'll post . And the keratin directly under the dead superficial nail is hard so I believe it's supposed to be 💅 (nail)

Help

RIP. It looks like it hurts but it doesn't. This is the update. I decided to cut the detached part off. I'm slowly trying to remove it.. slowly.. and the cuticle is starting to detach in the center too. In the first post I forgot to mention ‐ before this my toe randomly became inflamed, and then after a week of inflammation it calmed down but took half a year to heal and during that time the nail slowly changed color , to pale white/ yellow indicating death of the nail or nailed, idk.

Big toenail has been lifted for months — clear pics of nail bed. Is full shedding normal?

Looking for general info about what’s happening with my toenail. Not asking for a diagnosis — just trying to understand the normal process when a nail has been lifted for a long time.

This toenail has been partially detached for a few months after trauma. The front half lifted first, and more separation happened over time. I let it dry completely for 24+ hours before taking these photos so the nail bed underneath is shown naturally and not wet from, say the shower or being in rain.

What I’m seeing:

- The front ~70% of the nail is fully lifted

- The nail bed underneath looks pale, dry, and kind of “feathery/strandy ”

- The back near the cuticle is still attached

- Nail has gotten thicker and more discolored

- Skin around it sometimes gets pink/irritated but not severely painful

My question is general:

When a nail is lifted this much, does it usually end up fully shedding even if the base is still attached? And is the dry, keratin-loose stuff/ nail‑bed appearance normal once the nail has been separated for a long time?

Photos included. Just trying to understand what’s normal during nail regrowth.
