We're making Mimi's Pet Rescue, an animal sanctuary and pet adoption sim!

Mimi's Pet Rescue is a cozy job simulator where Mimi has handed you the keys to your own animal sanctuary. The building is a little... run down, so it's your job to patch the place up and find the pets their new forever homes.

First you get notifications of abandoned pets and decide whether you can take them in. When they arrive they may have ailments or injuries that need treating via medicine, bandages and a little TLC. The animals need food, water, play, grooming and a little love to keep them satisfied, before your customers arrive looking for the perfect pet to adopt.

Customers are looking for different things from pets and not every pet will bond with every customer, so it might take some time to make sure each pet finds their right place. Whilst all this is happening, you can also upgrade your sanctuary via donations to buy new furniture, premium food-types, accessories and more. Eventually you will build your reputation to be able to take in more animals, build extensions to the sanctuary (stables! Chicken coops!) and more!

The aim is to create a cozy, relaxing experience that is relatively stress-free, whilst being really rewarding when you find that perfect new home for your pets. Let us know what you think!

Uneven start: bad razor, bad technique or bad beard?

I’d like to start growing a beard but going from short stubble to short-beard is a problem: it’s always uneven. Is this a thing, or is it likely my crappy old razor, or bad technique or bad beard, or all three?

The current beard seems wirey, uneven and hard to evenly trim with a razor.

Any advice appreciated!

What game surprised you after a bad first impression?

I’m curious about games where your first impression was wrong.

For me, it was Spiritfarer. I'm pretty sure I got it in a humble bumdle, played it for like 10 minutes and bounced off it because I thought it was going be a bit slow and overly sentimental, but once I got into the routine of sailing around, improving the boat, getting into the story etc... it got better and better. Also it's beautiful, so that helped.

What's yours?

Which player ruined your campaign ending?

Our epic campaign recently ended with the big, bad guy winning over Faerun and invading the kingdom with undead.

I was DM'ing and left one player-character behind the big, bad guy unseen, with a weapon, ready to stop the approaching war. The player decided the character wouldn't do it, and that the character would just walk away. So instead of delivering an epic finale to a victorious campaign (all other players were incapacitated) where he was the hero of the day, he chose to walk away.

I get it, play-the-character and all that but, jeez.

Anyone else had this happen in your story?

Best solo/co-op games with a single deck of cards other than Regicide?

I've been playing Regicide with my daughter and it's great (she's been drawing enemy characters as we battle them - RIP "Mr. Poo Head".

Other than Scoundrel, which I plan on playing tonight, what are your favourite games to play with a single standard deck of 52 cards or dice?

What are the most obvious signs that a beginner ferment is going wrong?

I’m a total begnner and I’m trying to understand the difference between “normal fermentation weirdness” and actual warning signs.

I’ve seen people mention bubbles, cloudy brine, sour smells, funky smells, white film/yeast, mold, softness, sliminess, pressure build-up, etc., but I don’t really know what’s harmless and what means “throw it out.” What's the biggest (mouldiest) red-flag for your projects?

Anyone else feel awful after first starting to exercise?

I'm 3 days into starting a fitness routine of 30min light dumbbell home workouts and similarly to when I've tried fitness routines before, I feel terrible > fatigue, mental-health decline, brain-fog. I remember this happens previously when I started a running routine which levelled out ofter a while.

Anyone else experience this and have any idea what the cause is and how to help?

What’s the safest first ferment for a total beginner?

I’m a total beginner to fermentation and I’m trying to choose a first project that is as safe and hard-to-mess-up as possible.

I keep seeing people mention things like sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, hot sauce, kefir, komboocha, and sourdough starter, but I’m not sure which one is best for learning the basics/ For a first ferment, it would be great to get recomendations that fit:

- easy temperature control

- no specialist equipment

- short fermentation time

- easy smell/taste cue

What would you recommend as a first try?

Anyone else try to go 'serious' and still ends up an absolute comical mess?

Every week I try to create a cool atmospheric world for the players, describing locations and events with as much fantasy-novelly, immersive detail as I can (without going overboard), with a semi-serious campaign setting of less-magic, more undead, swords-are-rare kind of thing.

However, within 10-minutes the Paladin has tried to kick down a door that is already open, the fighter fell down 3 pit traps in a row (rolled 2 nat 1's and a nat 2) and the whole party spend 10 minutes arguing about who is going to pull the only lever in a basically empty room.

This is only a semi-serious gripe as I laugh constantly through our sessions, but however 'serious' I try to make the setting, it always ends up a parody of itself. Anyone else?

What solo board game is easiest to learn but still has depth?

I’m new to solo board gaming and I’m trying to find something that is easy to learn, but still has enough depth to stay interesting after several plays.

I’m not looking for something huge or extremely rules-heavy yet.

The things I’m wondering about are:

- simple rules, but interesting choices
- not too much setup or admin
- good replyability
- not too punishing while learning
- available without needing loads of expnsions

Any suggestions welcome!

What actually makes a fountain pen beginner-friendly?

I’m new to fountain pens and I’m trying to understand what actually makes a pen “beginner-friendly.”

When people recommend starter pens, are they mostly talking about the nib being smooth and forgiving? Or is it more about grip shape, weight, cleaning, or general reliability?

I’m not necessarily asking for a specific pen recommedation yet. I’m more trying to understand what features actually matter for someone learning how fountain pens work.

What made your first fountain pen easy or difficult to use?
