Made a post a couple days ago noticing that a number of Japanese players who were signed prior to the season were not on the rosters for the first week, and it seems that we may have an explanation after today's game! Suzu Narasaki came into the game for LA in the 6th today and the announcer mentioned that she was not here before due to visa and travel issues. I would assume this is the reason for the others as well, so hopefully we see more of them here playing soon!

Was just looking at the rosters and noticed that nearly every player who was one of the original 15 signings for their team but has not been on the roster this week is Japanese. Of the 8 Japanese players who signed before the start of the season, only 2 are actually playing now. Does anyone know what's up with that?

(Additionally, does anyone know why Maria José Valenzuela hasn't been on Boston's roster?)

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it I'm pretty sure Valenzuela was on the roster for Boston last weekend but just didn't play, so it's actually just the Japanese players who haven't been available.

Have noticed a few official rulings that don't seem to make sense to me in the last few games, so wanted to check if there's something I'm missing or if the consensus is just that they ruled these wrong.

In yesterday's Firebells/Queens game Lansdell scored in the 4th on a hit from Mackay and E6 on the play and it was ruled unearned, however Mackay still got an RBI for it. My understanding here would be that if it would not have scored without the error it should be unearned and no RBI, and if it would have it should still be earned and an RBI. Similar situation today in the Hunters/Heights game for the unearned run by Lee with an RBI for Yonetani.

From Thursday's Heights/Firebells game, Perez's run in the 4th which scored on an error is unearned and Yonetani does not get an RBI for it, however it seems to me that recreating the inning without the error still clearly lets it score so I would think it should still be earned.

Most confusingly, I cannot find any possible reason why Blunt's run in the 6th of today's Hunters/Heights game should be unearned. She reached on a walk, advanced to third on two more walks, and scored on a single. There were errors earlier in the inning but I would say only one of those would otherwise be an out, meaning only 2 total, and the rest of the scoring agrees because other runs scored after both errors are counted as earned.

Despite several hiccups with these first games I had such a fantastic time in Springfield for Opening Weekend, however I do have one real complaint. The 5th Inning Stretch was pretty lame.

One of the things I was really looking forward to for this weekend was singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame with everyone but instead they asked us to dance to Dancing in the Street and the crowd just didn't seem into it. As much as I respect trying to start new traditions I don't think this one was worth changing and I'm really sad to have not gotten that moment.

Are the labels on the wrong side for you as well or is it just mine?
