Borage fields in eastern PEI?
Has anyone seen any borage fields? Looking to take some pics.
Hard prune?
I think my jade needs a hard prune. Any advice on how far back to go? Google says don’t prune more than 30% but I’ve seen way harder prunes than that in this sub!
It’s very leggy, I would like it to be more bushy, and definitely the one growing down has to go.
Lentils! I hate them. BUT!…
I have ALWAYS hated lentils. The texture the taste… I kept trying them because they are so good for you, but I just can’t stand them.
THEN my husband (who does like lentils), did some research and decided to try Black Lentils (also know as Beluga Lentils). They. Are. Amazing. I love them so much! Texture, taste, everything!
We buy them dry and make batches in the Instant Pot. Super easy. I then add them cold to every salad I have.
If you have the same dislike for lentils, try these. They’re so good for you too!
This is my obsession every spring to end of summer. I can pretty much eat this for any meal.
From bottom to top:
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Beets
Eggs
Avocado
Black beans
Sprinkled with radishes and green onions.
Top with feta or goat cheese (pic 2).
You can substitute eggs for any protein if your choice.
The dressing is what makes it for me!!
The dressing I use (not pictured) is a modified French vinaigrette. French vinaigrette has been my fav dressing for decades, but despite being healthy olive oil base, it’s still a dressing that is 90% olive oil, and when you like a saucy dressing with 3-4 tbsp of dressing, that’s just too much olive oil!
So here is my French vinaigrette modification. It honestly tastes so similar, and is so much easier to make (no need to emulsify!). I make a big jar that lasts over a week:
In a jar with lid, mix:
3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (whatever fat you prefer)
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3-4 tablespoons red wine vinegar (depending on your taste!)
1 crushed/minced garlic clove
Salt/pepper to taste
Close the lid, give it a thorough shake, and voila!!
If you love French vinaigrette, I highly recommend this recipe.
