Taller In More Ways (Mutya’s Version) not available on US Streaming

Mutya’s versions of FMH, GBY, and Red Dress have never been available for streaming in the US on Apple Music or Spotify. It was only in the last few years that most of the Sugababes discography, plus Siobhan and Mutya’s solo albums were made available to stream in the states.

It’s recently come to my attention that Mutya’s versions of TIMW are available for streaming in the UK and other countries. I have physical copies and have imported those into my library, but I would love to have the option to stream.

Anyone have any clue on how to get this fixed?

I’ve messaged the Sugababes insta, but I know that’s a long shot. If any lurkers with connections stumble across this, please help a US fan out and get this sorted. US fans have been getting crumbs for decades, the least we deserve is Mutya’s voice on Follow Me Home.

PS add Styfling featuring Siobhan to Apple Music while you’re at it.

Slightly Annoyed with Customer Service

So full disclaimer: they technically did not do anything wrong per se, but I am slightly annoyed by the lack of attempt at providing great customer service…

I’ve ordered from Goose Creek several times and typically place pretty large orders. I recently placed an order for 15 candles, which finally arrived yesterday after over 2 weeks of waiting. When the package arrived, 2 of the candles were completely shattered. Annoying, but I understand it can happen. I still smelled them and didn’t care for one and hated the other one (I learned that neroli is not for me)

I submitted a ticket with photos to customer service, and included a note saying “I would like a replacement, but if possible, I would like to choose 2 different scents or get store credit as I do not like these scents”. This morning, I got an email saying “we apologize for the damaged items. A replacement order will be placed for this item and you will receive updated shipping information when available.” I replied asking again that I get either store credit or different scents rather than replacements, customer service got back saying “unfortunately once the replacement order is placed, it cannot be changed. Wish we could do more to help! Please let me know if there is more that I can assist with :)”

So again, great that they quickly replaced the damaged items, but pretty disappointed that my original note of wanting credit or different scents was ignored and I was essentially told “tough luck”. No offer for a discount off my next order, or anything to actually make sure I was happy with a $100+ order that took weeks to arrived damaged.

Just a little venting as this experience was a bummer. Anyone else had frustrating or great experiences with customer service? Wondering if I just got a dud of a customer service agent or if they are simply overwhelmed at the moment.

The Midnight Train by Matt Haig

Just finished this book and curious if anyone else shares my thoughts…

I loved The Midnight Library and was really excited to read this, but I ultimately came away disappointed.

The story follows Wilbur, a millionaire who dies alone and wishes he had treated his wife better. Unfortunately, both Wilbur and Maggie felt pretty underdeveloped, and I found Wilbur especially hard to connect with. Even when reflecting on his life, he still spends most of the book driven by his own wants and desires, which made him a difficult character to root for. It felt so slow and shallow…Wilbur loves Maggie because, well, he loves her! She’s pretty and does art. Maggie loves Wilbur because at the core, he is sweet and loves her!

That said, the book definitely has its silver linings. The ending is pretty predictable, but it wraps everything up nicely. There are some genuinely beautiful reflections on living in the moment, appreciating the people you love, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Haig is great at reflective “if you had one more chance” writing and I love the premise of this book and the Midnight world in general.

Overall, not a bad book, but very disappointing considering how much I enjoyed The Midnight Library. Perhaps I went in with too high of expectations. The characters felt very one dimensional and were hard to connect with at best, and downright unlikable at worst.

Curious about everyone else’s thoughts.
