Unity recently released the new Unity CLI and made Unity MCP free. In todayโs video, I explore whether MCP is still needed while covering editor and module management, C# execution with eval, automated builds, testing, and Codex integration!

I also built a very cool mini golf game using Codex and Unity CLI. Then I remotely control the game directly from the terminal. Youโll want to see this! โณ
๐จ NEW XR Developer Showcase! ๐ This time to showcase Crafting Crimes, an MR true crime experience that blends podcast storytelling with hands-on model-making, turning your physical world living room into a forensic investigation. ๐
A few highlights:
- Built with hand tracking in mind: place walls, objects, and evidence using intuitive hand gestures
- Hosted by miniaturist Carol K. Ras who guides you through each case
- Each episode is ~20 minutes of immersive storytelling
- Reconstruct infamous crime scenes in miniature, from Lizzie Borden to the 1911 theft of the Mona Lisa
- Crime scenes materialize in your hands as the story unfolds
- Blends true crime podcasts with mixed reality model-making
Itโs very exciting to see devs explore VR/MR beyond the usual formats, blending narrative, crafting, and spatial design into something genuinely unique.
Breaking walls in Mixed Reality is one of those features that always feels magical to me! Hereโs a great example of how I took inspiration from First Encounters and adapted the mechanic to work with the showcase project Iโve been building.
๐ฅ For a step by step process take a look at my latest video.
๐ข Today, Iโm excited to walk you through the process of building and launching a full VR/MR game. Iโll share what worked, what didnโt, and the AI tools & prompts I used to create the basketball hoop, realistic net physics, tabletop gameplay, leaderboards, achievements, and more.

Weโll also build a brand-new feature that lets players destroy their mixed reality walls and ceilings.
This project was developed with hand tracking in mind, and I was able to rapidly add controller support with a single prompt. It still needs more work to fully integrate all interactions, but it shows the power of quickly prototyping a manageable feature.
Every 2 weeks, I showcase XR developers building awesome projects. This time: Disembodied, an MR platformer that turns real hand movements into precise, physics-driven gameplay and pushes hand tracking to the next level. ๐๏ธ๐ฅ
A few highlights:
- Built hands-first, with no controller support
- Play seated or standing
- Climb, sneak, solve puzzles, and complete hand-driven challenges
- Natural physics-based interactions that feel responsive and intuitive
- Collect Power-Ups and activate them with hand gestures
- Punch through brick walls and shoot your hand gun, especially at your cat ๐
- Build and test levels instantly with an advanced level editor
- Online levels are planned post-launch
I love seeing XR devs push hand tracking in so many innovative ways, and this is exactly the kind of project that shows where MR gameplay can go next. ๐

Here is my progress on ๐ Arcade Hoops MR game one week after AWE 2026. I started this on the airplane and worked on it 2โ3 hours a day. Last night, I shipped these changes to the store.
๐ Main features added:
- Comprehensive theme system
- 5 themes: Default, Light, Dark, Knicks, and Spurs
- Theme editor tools to speed up testing directly in the Unity Editor, with no deployment needed
- Anti-cheating features added
Iโd love your thoughts on this!
๐ If you want to try it - the game is fully FREE & available from the Meta Horizon Store.
๐ Arcade Hoops is now available on the official Meta Horizon Store! This was such a fun VR/MR project to build: taking an idea and shipping it to the Meta Horizon Store in exactly 4 weeks.
I built it using:
- Meta VR CLI
- Agentic Tools Repo, full of skills
- Claude Code + VS Code
- Unity 6 + Unity MCP
- Meta XR Core + Meta ISDK + MRUK
- OpenAI Image 2.0 for concept generation
- Adobe Photoshop for all the store assets
๐กHonestly, this project taught me so much about what modern VR/MR development workflows can look like when you combine Unity with our agentic workflows.
๐ Feel free to download it completely FREE from the Meta Horizon Store!
Iโve been quietly working on the Arcade Hoops ๐ Meta Horizon Store assets, while also adding a lot of improvements and polish to version 1.0.0. Tonight I officially submitted ๐ and waiting for review!
This last 2 weeks of work includes a lot of changes Iโm really excited about:
- Added Wall Targets and new wall visualizers, with multiple visualizer modes and a toggle
- Live leaderboard that refreshes instantly when a new record is set
- New music plus a variety of gameplay fixes and polish
- Improved hand tracking with faster tracking, poke surfaces, and fixed hands fighting when placing the court on a table
- Smarter room setup now prompts the user to scan the room when outside the current space
- Gameplay is tuned to 30-second rounds, expanded shooting zone, refined net and pole geometry
- Performance improvements across the board
- New app logo, refreshed icons, and a spatial splash screen
- Set up a skill to automate incrementing the project build version, build the project, and submit it to the Meta Horizon Store
- Created all required store media and listing assets prepared
๐คฏ 1 more week of work, 2-3 hours per day, and this is what I added to my Mixed Reality Game - it is not just a tabletop game but it also uses walls for audio visualizers + hit targets!
- New sound visualizer modes: In Room, On Court, or Off
- Visualizers now react to music and game events
- New targets ๐ฏ that add +2 points per hit. Theyโre fully customizable and procedurally generated
- Improved MRUK room detection flow
- 3 new music tracks & new sound effects when the ball hits MRUK walls, ceilings, or the floor
- New warning sound when only 10 seconds are remaining
- 3 new achievements
- Added all the metadata to the Meta Horizon Portal
Itโs getting closer to submission, and honestly, it has been so much fun seeing this game evolve every week. ๐ฅ
Iโve been adding polishing touches to my ๐ basketball Mixed Reality game, and one area I keep focusing on is onboarding. It uses MRUK & the Rooms exposed functionality to extend the gameplay with MR features.
๐คฏ Itโs been 10 days since I posted my progress on my Mixed Reality Arcade Hoops game and since then, Iโve added 50+ commits and a variety of new features.
- New onboarding flow with tabletop and floating placement
- Mini tutorial to teach the core mechanic
- Updated basketball with shader-generated lines
- Court and basketball impact shader
- Sound effects for scoring, bouncing, and achievements, also 3 new music tracks
- Full PSDK integration with 1 leaderboard and 10+ achievements
- Achievement toast popup when players unlock one
- Persistent Spatial Anchors, so court placement restores after closing the app
- Debug area to restart onboarding, toggle aiming lines, and view in-game logs
- Improved basketball bounce physics, it feels much more realistic now
- Lastly, A LOT of additional fixes & improvements!
๐กWhatโs next?
- Creating store metadata, screenshots, trailer, and store details
- Then submitting the game ๐ most likely next week!

The results ๐คฏ and this used to take me a while because I had to manually resize and adjust everything before I could even make it work. This is exactly why Unity AI and their exposed MCP tools are such a big deal for developers.
For context, this used to be a full-scaled mixed reality experience which I created last week. Today, I spent about 1 hour converting it to a tabletop game.
๐ฅ Take a look at my latest YouTube video https://youtu.be/bWxIF903t_I where I guide you through the process of creating it using Unity AI and Meta Agentic Tools.
