My latest Amazon score. The neck and fretboard are well done, stainless steel frets, Alnico 5 pickups that sound great, and got the action slammed low with zero fret buzz. After basic setup and fret polishing this $199 bargain plays like $1000
Drummer and guitar player looking for bass, vocals, and 2nd guitar for original rock project. My influences span from Social Distortion to Hair Metal to Grunge, with some Muddy Waters sprinkled in. That said, we're more interested in creating our own organic sound than chasing a genre. As long as it rocks.
Ideally, we'd like to meet up at a Plano rehearsal studio unless we find rehearsal space otherwise, and just see where it goes musically. Nothing much is in concrete at this stage, so your ideas and input are welcome. Built this from a KLD 5W kit, based on the Gibson GA-5. Its a great sounding practice amp with some nice crunch when you crank the gain.
The speaker is a "True Blue" from guitar center. Nice little cheap replacement speaker with a throaty, scooped kind of tone.
This was a sunburst Squier I found on marketplace. Only the body is original. Replaced every other parts with AliExpress products. $120 total invested
I found a deal I couldn't pass up on this Monoprice Stage Right amp. Looking at the schematic it looks like a 5F2 tweed Princeton without the tube rectifier. As is, It sounds fine for a practice amp, but hook up a 12 inch speaker cab into the external speaker jack and WOW!! What a great, harmonically rich amp.
It breaks up so nicely at (close to) bedroom volume. Anyone else have any thoughts or experience with this little amp? I don't have any circuit mods in mind but I'll be rehoming this amp in a bigger cab soon.
