I fell into a rabbit hole and have found that since 1839, there's been developments in plastics on average just a few years apart. The biggest logged jump between discoveries is from 1965 to the 1980's. Mostly, it's between five to fifteen years for updates in this timeline;

But there's nothing I can find past 1988. It's 2026; I can't believe that nothing has been found in 38 years with this past frequency. What am I missing? Are my internet skills too lazy?

Tl:dr; has there been further findings with different types of plastics in the last 40 or so years?

If we have a few generations of birds raised in an environment where they don't have to worry about food, would they still kick out runts from the nest? Or what else might be needed for this instinct to be overridden? Sorry for a probably dumb question, but the thought got stuck in my head on my walk to the store. Any bird experts here?

I haven't seen a lot of discourse about Mary's story, or any discourse at all. I want to go down the levels of her arc here.

Mary's Mom: Has agoraphobia or something like that, and probably viewed caging her daughter in their home as protecting the person she loves most. Like a, "I'm sorry for your circumstance, but it's for your own good."

Mary's Patient: Has control issues, and other issues, and when he puts her to sleep, he literally says something like "It's for your own good," and cages her in that copied kitchen. He even eventually says he's sorry while freeing her. (The act of him freeing her is a personal growth moment for Clark, but I'll save that rant for later)

Mary's Government Kidnapper: Seems to be genuinely sorry for keeping her trapped, as from what he's said of himself he went from a normal medical field to being conscripted into government work, so he has some understanding of going from normal to very not normal. He seems to be genuinely powerless as to her fate. The way he keeps looking over to the people watching, the interaction looks as though he's taking some tangible risk in telling her the things he did.

The pattern is always, "I'm sorry, but I totally have reasons to keep you prisoner."

Mary really had a whole shit time.

It's nothing major, it just occurred to me that this might not be common. I'll see, for instance, a still headshot of someone, and for a literal second I'll see them blink or move a little bit before I focus fully on the pic and see that it isn't moving.

Most of the time this doesn't happen, but I find myself scrolling on my feeds and then scrolling back to see if something was actually moving.

Full disclosure, when I was less than five years old I remember looking at the Sunday comics in the paper every week and just watching things spin along. It stopped as I got older, and more than watching the comics itself, I clearly remember asking my brother when I was maybe six when the newspaper made their comics stop moving. I always figured this was a weird developing brain misfiring sort of thing.

It doesn't disrupt my life at all, it's just a weird little thing. Anyone know what's up with that?

My max is 700 (what I've been paying as a roommate in palms for the past five years) and I'm open to either my own studio or a roommate. I work night shifts at a dog daycare so I'm either sleeping during the day or going to play dungeons and dragons at a friend's place. On my nights off at home I use my ear buds so I don't disturb anyone while I watch movies or play video games.
