My sister and I built DIYO.in to make custom outfit shopping easier for women

Namskara Bengaluru🌼❤️

My sister studied fashion at NIFT Bengaluru and has been stitching and sourcing fabrics for years. She kept getting asked by friends, cousins, and extended family for custom outfits, and one problem kept repeating every single time.

Not the stitching. The confusion before it.

A lot of people know what they want in their head, but explaining it properly is a pain. It usually becomes a long WhatsApp conversation with Pinterest screenshots, random references, vague sleeve ideas, and some version of “not exactly this, but something like this.” Then the outfit gets made, and it becomes “this is not what I had in mind.”

I’m her brother, and I build apps, so we ended up building something. - diyo.in

She drew hundreds of sketches herself, hand-picked the reference images, and chose every fabric in the catalogue. I handled the tech side. The app basically lets you go step by step through body type, outfit style, sketch, fabric, and colour, and gives you a visual garment preview before anything is actually stitched. There’s a virtual try-on feature too.

It’s still very early.

Would genuinely like honest feedback from Bengaluru folks here, especially women who’ve gotten clothes stitched or customised:

  1. What usually goes wrong for you in the custom outfit process?
  2. What would make something like this actually useful for you?
  3. What would make you order from us?!
