I finished a draft of my college essay and it would be really helpful if someone could read it🥺

My college essay is not the best tbh, because it feels a little basic, so i'd like advice. I am open to completely rewriting it and taking every comment seriously. Please leave a message down below if I can dm you and you're willing to help!

chance me and you can be honest (texas kid)

Hey everyone! I’m getting nervous about this upcoming application season and wanted to get some opinions on my chances at a few schools.

I moved from Canada to the U.S. during middle school. I know my application isn’t anything crazy compared to some of the profiles online, but I’ve tried to challenge myself academically, pursue leadership opportunities, and stay involved in my community.

I discovered engineering relatively late in high school after developing an interest in chemistry, so my application is probably more well-rounded than heavily major-focused.

One thing I’m concerned about is class rank. I’ve earned straight A’s throughout high school, but my school’s weighting system doesn’t strongly reward AP/dual-credit coursework. I’ve also spent a significant amount of time in band and wrestling, which were commitments I chose because I genuinely enjoyed them and gained leadership experience from them.

Intended Major: Chemical Engineering
Intended Minor: Business

Academics

* 4.0 UW GPA
* Top ~20% of class
* 1450 SAT superscore
* Associate of Science through dual enrollment upon graduation
* Multiple dual-credit courses including Chemistry, Calculus, Physics, English, History, Government, Psychology, Economics, and more
* AP Human Geography (5)
* Additional AP exams in Chemistry, Psychology, Calculus, Physics, Government, and French

Background

* Hispanic male
* Dual U.S./Canadian citizen
* Trilingual (English, Spanish, French)
* Middle-income family

Activities

* Engineering/Business Intern at Robotics Startup (Hopefully end up working there)
* Band President, Vice President, and 2x Section Leader
* Varsity Wrestling Captain
* Science Honor Society President & Library STEM Initiative
* DECA Founder & Co-President
* Kumon Tutor
* Youth Wrestling Coach (200+ volunteer hours)
* School Announcer
* Rho Kappa Officer + NEHS Officer + Key Club volunteer (100+ volunteer hours)
* Engineering Summer Camp Participant (selective application-based program but not very prestigious)

Awards

* All-Region Band (x2), All-District Band (x1)
* School Science Fair Winner (160+ people)
* AP Scholar
* Top 2 GPA Recognition in Wrestling

College List:

Extreme Reach
* UT Austin
* Cornell
* Waterloo

Reach
* Purdue
* Toronto
* McGill

Match
* Texas A&M
* McMaster
* Colorado School of Mines
* Auburn
* Colorado Boulder
* University of South Florida

Safety
* Oklahoma State
* Alabama
* Colorado State
* University of Houston

My list is probably gonna shrink before I apply to save some money, and if you think anything is misclassified please tell me where you'd put the school I misclassified. I’d love to hear thoughts on UT Austin, Texas A&M, Toronto, and McGill in particular. How much will being outside the top 10% hurt my application coming from a relatively competitive public high school? Also curious about merit scholarship opportunities since I won’t qualify for need-based aid.

Are college board sat test 10 and 11 accurate? I heard 11 was harder than 10, but my math mistakes in both were like VERY easy I understand most of the difficult concepts in math. I was wondering if it's representative of what I'll get on the May sat after all my studying. right now my superscore is 750math/690rw. My dream score is a 790-800 math and 710+ reading. lmk how yalls scores compared to the real test. Idk how accurate reading is but I think my brain was unfocused because I got 2 notes questions wrong😭
