Steering wheel sensors?

Hello! I have a question for everyone. Hopefully someone will be able to help. I had to have my steering wheel replaced in my 2025 GLI a couple months ago. The new steering wheel sometimes doesn’t register my hand holding the bottom half but the top half has no issues. I will either have to grip it tighter or move the steering wheel to make the keep hands on wheel message to go away.

I went to the dealership and of course they couldn’t recreate the issue. I took videos and sent them to them too. My advisor said the tech told him the new steering wheels don’t have the sensors in them anymore and it’s all done by the clock spring now. He said VW took them out because they were melting because of the heated steering wheel.

Is this only on steering wheels in new cars? Or would my replacement steering wheel not have sensors too? It’s weird to me if it doesn’t have sensors in it then why does it register my hand on the top without me having to move the wheel? In fact I can touch the top half with one finger and it will register my hand on the wheel.

Just wondering if I should go to a different dealership to get a second opinion or ask them to talk to a different tech? Hopefully someone with some knowledge on this stuff can help! Thank you for your help everyone!

I did a thing

I’ll probably get some hate for some of it. I do think the rear tail lights are a little too dark for my taste but even during the day you can still see the running lights and brake lights. The head lights are still bright at night and I have no issues seeing. I do want to have the lip PPF fixed. Also some of this was installed a couple months ago but it was finally just finished due to having to get my front bumper repainted. Here is the list so far:

Two stage paint correction
Front PPF + R1 ceramic coat
Rest of car R1 ceramic coat
70% nano ceramic windshield tint
20% nano ceramic sides and rear windows tint
Front bumper lip matte black PPF + R1 ceramic coat
Glossy pillar covers installed + R1 ceramic coat
Headlights DYNOshadow LFP + R1 ceramic coat
Light bar DYNOshadow LFP + R1 ceramic coat
Taillights DYNOsmoke LFP + R1 ceramic coat
Rear bumper reflectors badgeskin smoke vinyl
Smoked sequential turn signals from Amazon
Black VW badge covers from auto ambiente
Weather Tech front + rear window deflectors
Rightcar solutions silicone license plate frame
Natalex Auto VW license plate screws (they are kinda big so I may remove them and just use the black license plate screw)
3DGOWEST no drill front license plate holder (You can see the mount is still there but I had to take the plate off and haven’t put it back on yet)
R1 Revive on whole car (it had been 3 months since ceramic coat and just wanted to try it since it says every 3 to 6 months)

Auovo rubber interior mats from Amazon
Poksri car seat gap fillers
CDEFG center console organizing tray from Amazon
Aenvtol 10 piece MK7 LED light kit from Amazon (don’t recommend, already had LEDs flickering after a couple months and they had to send new ones and the new ones are just starting to do it)
Viofo a229 Pro front + rear dash cam (worked great when it was colder. Now that it’s warmer I am having thermal shutdown issues due to heat and still trying to figure that out with Viofo support)
Viofo BP100 battery pack (will eventually get a Viofo EP100 expansion battery pack or 2 if I can figure out the dash cam heat issues. While the battery pack gets warm, it hasn’t had any issues as it’s out of direct sun light and under the seat)
Carbon fiber dual hood struts from eBay (only got carbon fiber because they were on sale and cheaper than black)

There is still more to do tho! I got glossy GLI vinyl letters for the front, sides, and rear from swan vinyl works that I still need to install. I have 285 Motorsports OEM spoiler on the way. I wanted the OEM look but the one from VW cost more and only came primered so I would have to get it painted or wrapped so I went with the cheaper option. Hoping it doesn’t look too bad. I also have GLI puddle lights coming from auto ambiente. Eventually I would like to get CJM industries diffuser, side skirts, and front splitter. When I get the front splitter I may take the matte black PPF off the front bumper lip if it doesn’t look right. Who knows. I would like to eventually get a rear sway bar. Also while I want to eventually get coil overs, I may end up getting lower springs in the meantime. ECU and TCU tune is still really far away as I don’t want to void my warranty. Also the very rear glossy pillar isn’t installed in the pictures or video because we almost missed it lol, but it is on there now. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know! Also feel free to give me hate for the tail lights. I know I deserve it lol

285 Motorsports OEM style Trunk Spoiler

Good evening,

Has anyone purchased and had the 285 Motorsport OEM style trunk spoiler installed on their 2025 VW Jetta GLII was wonder if they had any issues over time with fading or cracking or really any kind of imperfection?

Or should I go with the VW OEM rear lip spoiler? From what I am reading it comes primer so I would need to get it painted or wrapped which shouldn’t be an issue. Or is it better to go with the 285 Motorsport OEM spoiler that is already glossy black?

285 Motorsports OEM style Trunk Spoiler

Good evening,

Has anyone purchased and had the 285 Motorsport OEM style trunk spoiler installed on their 2025 VW Jetta GLII was wonder if they had any issues over time with fading or cracking or really any kind of imperfection?

Or should I go with the VW OEM rear lip spoiler? From what I am reading it comes primer so I would need to get it painted or wrapped which shouldn’t be an issue. Or is it better to go with the 285 Motorsport OEM spoiler that is already glossy black?

Shell Credit Card - Yay or Nay?

I stumbled upon the Shell Performance Elite World Mastercard today. It offers 4% on shell purchases, 3% in dining and groceries, and 2% everywhere else. It also says it has World Elite Mastercard benefits. I was debating applying as I don’t have a 2% catch all card. I also only get gas at Shell but can get 5% with a different card on gas. Has anyone else used this card? Is there anything I should know about it? Is it not worth it? Are there better cards out there for 2% catch all? Is First Bank and Trust that issues it okay to deal with? Or Imprint Payments since they manage other cards? Just trying to see if anyone has had any issues with it or not. Thanks for reading and hope someone can shed some light on this card!
