Time Bomb

Hasn’t been played as a standalone song since 5.21.22. It’s long overdue for a liberation. Would be great with Jake bursting to play Boyd’s violin parts.

Highly underrated song IMO.

Baby when I get home
I wanna believe in Jesus
Hammer in the final nail
Help me pick up the pieces
Everything starts to fall
So fast that it terrifies you
When will you hit the wall?
Or are you gonna learn to fly?
No one would believe it
Except for all the people
Watching as you fly away

Will Marlins Members get refunded if the 2027 season isn’t played?

I asked my MM ticket rep and this was the response: “You know as much as I do about a possible strike.” When asked if anything I paid for next season’s tickets would be refunded, I was again told there’s no information.

I am doing the payment plan in anticipation of a strike happening.

DMB would kill a Werewolves of London cover

Really surprised they haven’t played it. Dave’s singing style is similar to Warren Zevon’s. I think Buddy would do the keyboard parts justice. And it would sound incredible with their horn section. Make it happen, DMB!

Reasons for Raising Money

First, it was to raise money to support his family and buy his mother a bed. Now it’s due to back taxes at PAXAM. Which is it?!?

Has Dave ever weighed in on Paul Simon’s Graceland?

Being a white musician from South Africa, I’m assuming Dave has opinions on the album. The whole backstory of how it was recorded in the middle of apartheid is fascinating - and in addition to efforts of black South Africans to overcome it, helped elevate international understanding of their struggle.

I know Dave has covered “You Can Call Me Al” and “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes,” but I’ve never heard him comment on the album. Curious what he thinks of it as someone who lived in South Africa and experienced apartheid firsthand.

Edit: he talked about it on Charlie Rose in 1999 (at 8:26):

What I’d Be Thinking If I Were Bendix/Sherman

Disclaimer: I have been as critical as anyone over Sherman’s unwillingness to spend money, but by hiring Bendix he has hacked the system and despite the lowest payroll in baseball, he has one of the best teams in baseball with no signs of slowing down. If I were in his situation, here’s what I would do:

- Push your chips in and attempt to win it all this season. We have a LOADED lineup, and Otto Lopez, Marsee,
Conine, Hernandez, Cassie and Edwards are only going to get better. So bring in an absolute stud of a hitter or two to juice this lineup even more.

- Build around Max Meyer, Sandy and Eury and bring in another solid arm for the rotation. Get a lock down closer like Aroldis Chapman. Find pitchers that are currently pitching well, not pitchers that hope to do well.

- Bring in a veteran or two. None of our current players have won anything or consequence (except a WBC). In '97 we brought in Darren Daulton and in '03 we brought back Jeff Conine and signed Ugeth Urbina. We need some grey hair to help these kids when they need it.

There is more than likely going to be a lockout in the offseason than not. You cannot hope to have a respectable run in the ‘26 postseason, because the dynamics may be completely different post lockout. Also, the Braves, Mets and Phillies are on the downswing. If we ever had a year, it’s this year.

Marlins fans expect to win a World Series. We’ve done it before, and have a chance to do it this year.

Come on, Bruce. Open up the checkbook. If we win it all, you can sell the franchise at double what you paid for it.

Worried about GK position

After watching nearly every game in 2025 and 2026 and watching the USMNT series on HBO Max, I’m a little worried about the situation at GK. I do not have much faith in either Matt Turner or Matt Freese. I can’t really describe it, but I just don’t have much confidence. With Turner, he seems solid, but seems like he’s missing quite a few second (or third) attempts. My issue with Freese is that he just doesn’t seem to have the international experience we need in a GK at the World Cup. (Freese has 15 caps to Turner’s 54 caps).

I hope I’m wrong, but I feel the GK position is a major liability for USMNT. I feel much more confident in our forwards and mids. Where is the next Tim Howard when you need him?!?

Dave’s comments tonight.

I couldn’t be more proud to be a fan of his. He was spot on calling out violence no matter where it originates. Said that he was actually at a bar mitzvah on 10/7 and rejects the violence of that day. Hopefully we can all realize that the man just wants peace regardless of the conflict.

Tonight Felt Like a Shift (WPB)

I have been seeing DMB regularly in West Palm Beach for the past decade. The energy, crowd attention, and even setlist selection felt different tonight. When they played the traditional instrumental intro to OSW, it felt like they knew the crowd would appreciate it and it continued to get better from there.

Bringing out Carlos Malta and playing Say Goodbye was a treat. But when they brought Jake Simpson out, the energy was palpable and it brought down the house. You can honestly FEEL and hear a difference when he’s playing with the band. It feels like the way it used to feel when Boyd was in his prime and the crowd fed off of him. The fact that they let him play Drunken Soldier proves they are letting him learn the catalog and joining the band full time might be in the cards.

Overall, the show was better than Tampa top to bottom even though Tampa had a better setlist. I hope the band finds a way to add Jake full time. There were people in my section (warehouse section) who had never heard of him and left believers. So looking forward to tomorrow night!!

FWIW, I think WPB rivals the energy I’ve experienced at the Gorge and other venues. It’s definitely one of the top 5 venues for DMB.
