Built a couple things for the house

To preface this, I have been doing “rough in” and some trim carpentry on and off for 10 years, but never really did any wood working per se. Just cutting boards to length and chopping miters 🤷🏼‍♂️ My wife has been wanting a mail organizer for us and a little organizer shelf for her toiletries. So I grabbed some scrap wood and just kind of free styled it. Did a little sanding with an orbital I have and threw some stain on it. Definitely nothing special but it was a very fun, relaxing way to enjoy my Saturday.

Anybody full time replace windows and doors?

Just curious. I’ve helped my father on and off the past 10 years (since I was 14, now 24) do windows and door replacement. He was a subcontractor for an exterior company but he no longer is. I have all the tools, truck, and setup, and occasionally hit jobs on the side. I have a full time gig and I’m already self employed. I’m thinking about calling up some local exterior companies and seeing if they need any subcontracted labor. I got my LLC, workman’s comp waiver, and commercial liability insurance. (I needed these when I would drop bills as a helper) Just curious what the market is like. I would be running solo 2-3 days a week. I do random door installations still for buddies, families, friends of family etc. I have a brake too. I sometimes do random trim jobs (mainly jamb extensions and casing on doors and windows.) I’ve been thinking about actually getting more into it though since I know the money is there, just curious if the work is, and if a one man crew is something a company would even consider. Since my father is no longer doing it, I don’t have the connection like I used to where I basically just showed up and worked 🤷🏼‍♂️

1987? sportster motor. It’s not original motor, so unsure on exact year. I can’t get my bike to run worth a shit. I bought it not running, and it’s my first project bike. I am at a loss.

I’m getting 120+ psi when compression testing. I am getting spark on both cylinders. I have used multiple carbs and ignition modules, and tried 2 different intakes.

I can get it fired occasionally, but it just sounds pissed off when it runs. It shoots flames out the drag pipes, and sounds like there is some occasional backfiring when idling.

Currently my setup is an oem ignition module, dual fire coil, and a good running revtech carb and s&s intake off another bike. (Basically said fuck it and parted a good running sportster setup onto my bike just to see what’s would happen.)

we got it fired yesterday, turned it off, and wouldn’t fire again. That seems to be the story. It fires once, sounds angry, some flames out the pipes, eventually quits idling. Won’t start again. I’ve had two guys who build bikes look at this, and even have one of them holding onto it now. We are going to drop the cam cover and start checking internals to make sure nothing is stuck, and all cams are aligned. I’ve had my chop for almost a year and the farthest I’ve ever gotten to ride it is 3 blocks before shutting off!

One thing they’ve noticed is there’s no sucking feeling when setting their hand on the carb and cranking it over. That’s what’s leading them to say let’s drop the cam case and see how things look. This is my first project bike, and I am by no means a bike builder so I’m just fucking clueless at this point. Anybody have any insight? I’m almost 4k into a bike over the period of a year I haven’t gotten to actually ride and it’s driving me insane. Especially with the season starting.
