Why do people hate Oblivion so much?
The song has one of Kevin's best instrumentals, the lyrics are beautiful, and it features gorgeous synthesizers that somehow make me feel nostalgic for no reason.
It represents the album quite well, actually, Kevin experimenting with new rhythms, especially with the midnight electronic rave vibe where everyone is in the mood except him, It also features some really nice voice effects, and although it's very danceable, it's not TikTok-friendly and maintains a very ethereal or psychedelic/trance vibe.
I always suspected that people hate this song because of the classic Reggaeton/Dembow beat, but it's really more of a stigma than a fact in itself, It's clear the rhythm is a reference to most raves in the southern United States, where Latin culture is prevalent, and even though I don't listen to Reggaeton (I'm Latino), embracing the rhythm makes the song fully enjoyable.
