Okay too clarify I truly hate the smell of baby hygiene products and therefore babies . I don’t know what they put in baby products to make them smell like that. It has like this what can only be described as airy kind of throw up smell to it.
Baby powder, wipes, lotion, and soap all smell DISGUSTING.
Me 18F and let’s call her Sarah 18F have been bestfriends since our freshman year. Sarah is white and I am black. The high school we went to together was a really diverse and progressive high school. After freshman year we both moved to different states she moved to a very rural and white state.
Last summer I went down to visit her and before I went down there, she warned that her town
is pretty racist there’s an active KKK and that some of my friends are in it but they don’t hate black people it more of a white pride thing. I was like okay whatever went down there nothing happened. I had a fun time and none of her friends were weird.
Anyways, fast-forward to the actual incident about a month ago. I was on the phone with Sarah and she said the N-word while talking to me it was more in the context of like referring to someone else and this other person wasn’t black but as soon as she said it, I said “what ?“ and she immediately hung up on me.
After that, I didn’t reach out to her and she didn’t call me until two weeks later and she starts talking about this new boyfriend she got without addressing anything. We’ve been talking like normal but it’s honestly really bothering me.
Me and her have been really good friends for a long time and she’s been an amazing friend, but I felt so disrespected and it just gave me the biggest ick ever and I really just can’t even look at her the same. I understand that she’s been living in a pretty racist area and she can’t control that but I feel like she’s picking up the habits and it’s only going to get worse.
This is a girl I thought would be my maid of honor and the godmother to my kids and I’m just reevaluating this whole friendship and her values because of this.
