First timer w/ Harvest 360 (6 pods)

I recently thrifted a working Aerogarden Harvest 360 and am looking forward to trying out a countertop garden!! I know a lot of people ask the best seeds to start out with and stuff like that but I was wondering if anyone had some “rookie mistakes” or obvious ”what-not-to-do’s” that I should avoid when it comes to these.

Why is Octapharma always understaffed??

I’ve been to Biolife and Octa so far in Des Moines and the lines at Octapharma are needlessly insanely long. Why have five screen stations if you’re only going to schedule ONE screener? Ive only ever seen them use two when it was, like, peak-rush around 5-6pm.

First go at gallery glass

I just wanted to share and ask for any constructive feedback! since this is a new medium for me I tried not to be overly-ambitious with the design but still wanted to challenge myself. I know the liquid lead lines could be more even, straight, and smooth but I imagine I’ll get better with practice.

one question I had is how to avoid thick patches of paint so that it will dry evenly and looks clear instead of warped? I suspect this first project will have some unwanted texture to it, but it may be a happy accident is it still looks good ha.

I also used the crystal clear for the white textured bits and am wondering if anyone has a preference for the clear vs. frosted paint for this. Excited to incorporate feedback for my next project 🤩

No automatic SSN?

my husband JUST recently immigrated from England 2 weeks ago. When we started his greencard application in Fall of 2023, he checked a box requesting automatic communication with the SSS to assign him an SSN at the same time his greencard shipped. His greencard arrived without an SSN and we just got out of an appointment with the social security office where we found out they discontinued automatic communications with SSA last Spring. Did we miss a major announcement or did they just not notify people of this change who were midway through the process?

Chances of getting into an MLS cert program?

I flunked out of med school and am working on finding a good way to pivot my career. I’m looking for a STEM-based medicine-adjacent role. An MLS certificate program sounds like a great fit for my interests but I’m wondering if I would be a bad candidate. I don’t want programs feeling like this is my “backup plan” or anything. I’m also wondering if I could even handle an MLS cert program, because I understand it’s just as rigorous as med school, if not more because it’s so condensed. I‘m thinking if it weren’t for my record of struggling with the med school curriculum, my background might be a good fit? I did a masters in bioinformatics and ended up doing NGS wetlab and drylab in a public health laboratory during my gap years before matriculating into med school.

Would my previous experiences outweigh my academic record? would adcoms for MLS programs consider a personal statement that would explain the poor performance previously and demonstrate those issues have been addressed? Thoughts, advice, or tips appreciated :)
