Davy Crockett and the River Pirates would absolutely not be made today.

Watching Davy Crockett and the River Pirates in this day and age, when you consider the fact it was one of my favourites growing up. I rented it on VHS a number of times and it’s rated G. But watching it these days with the smoking, drinking and the shooting (although bloodless) of Indians there is no way it would be released today, let alone be considered a family movie. It’s wild to think how things have changed.

A Time to Kill the sweatiest movie of all time.

I’m rewatching a Time to Kill (Superb movie by the way). Stellar movie with stellar performances but it’s gotta be the sweatiest movie of all time. Is there another movie or you can name that has as many sweaty characters as A Time to Kill.

People that ride motorcycles without a helmet, why??

Rewatching Hawaii Five-0 and Chin Ho always rides without a helmet. One of my pet peeves is Tom Cruise riding without a helmet in movies. So I’ve always wondered people that aren’t required to wear a motorcycle helmet why do you ride without one??

Let’s hear it. What unexpected positive thing happened because you enjoyed Yellowstone so much.

Doing another rewatch (not sure I’ll ever get tired of this show) and I realized something it had changed in my life.

I should preface this that I’m a total Rivet Head. I listen to a lot of industrial rave type music. For reference my two favourite soundtracks of all time are Hackers and 1995’s Mortal Kombat.

Since I’ve been watching Yellowstone, Whiskey Myers and especially Lainey Wilson has made it into my Apple Music library and gets played on the regular. For years and years I despised country music. Now I’ve got a little more appreciation for it.

What are yours?

Robert Rodriguez’s Predators and the franchises that could have been.

Rewatching Robert Rodriguez’s Predators tonight and realizing what a truly awesome franchise starter it should have been. Adrien Brody action hero is not something I had on my bingo card but he totally owns the role. I would have loved to see this franchise expanded. There was lot of room for new stories.

What are your favourite undeveloped franchise that deserve a second chance?

Annette Benning

I’m writing this post as a big fan of Yellowstone. Kevin Costner was great in the role and the show lost something when he left. However his role as John Dutton was not at all subtle or nuanced. He had much more a bully type energy than true menace.

I’ve just finished the first 4 episodes of Dutton Ranch and as essentially a non fan of Annette Benning I’m totally blown away by what she brings to her role as essentially John Dutton of Texas. She comes across as a true psychopath that everyone should be afraid of. But she’s so calm, cool and human you would almost miss it if you weren’t looking. I hope she wins some awards for this performance.

Shout out to a stellar Ed Harris too!!

Sold Meth to Probst last night. He told me all the twists for 51

I run a strip club for plus size dancers and Jeff Probst is a regular. I also sell him meth all the time so it’s easy for me to get all the gossip. He was in last night getting a lap dance from his favourite 400 pound German stripper Broomhilda so he was in a great mood. I sold him some meth and he spilled all the tea on season 51.

He’s decided that multiple vote outs are his new favourite thing, so next season we’re starting with 36 castaways. 18 of them will be eliminated in the first episode. He wouldn’t give me all the details but he did admit one of the things contestants have to do going forward is have a rap battle with Jeff in order to earn their spot in the game.

They’ve upped the stakes for getting voted out. When you’re voted out next season you can go home or go to exile with Coach. If you can write a haiku that impressed him you earn your spot back in the game.

Turns out Jeff actually hates Rizgod and that’s because nobody other than Jeff is to be considered God on Survivor. Going forward all references to god must be changed to Jeff Probst.

Because he has a bit of a beef cake fetish next season the challenge Jeff is going to participate in will involve wrestling. He hinted it was reminiscent of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Oh and before I forget Colby and Jeff have started an Onlyfans but I’m too afraid to look at it.

Finally catching up on the Season 50 episodes and a stat from the first episode is blowing my mind

The very first season of Survivor I ever watched was the Australian Outback. I’ve been a fan of Colby ever since. But it’s wild how your perception changes. I was 17 when AO aired and while I’m not really sure how old I thought Colby was but i would have guessed he was older than 24. To find out that Colby was the same age in AO that Rizzo is now is a statistic I can’t really get my head wrapped around. Colby has always seemed older and more mature than Rizzo.

Anyone know what all the new buildings going up around Save On and the Bus Station are

There’s a big new building going up across from the Synergy Health Center.

We have a sign for the Nourish Center, but I’m not sure what that is.

The old Fabric Land next to the Lube City is getting a new tenant and it got an orange and black color scheme.

There’s also something going up next to the Mailboxes Etc across from Save on

Anyone know what going into these places?

Your unpopular West Wing opinion

Doing my first rewatch in about 4 years and I noticed something for the first time that is def going to be an unpopular opinion.

Everyone loves the Sorkin seasons and the general consensus is that the post Sorkin seasons are not as good.

This is the first time I’ve really been disappointed in season 4.

I know why Rob Lowe wanted to leave. He was expecting to be the lead (look at his placement in the opening credits, he’s the only one not listed alphabetically). But with the ensemble Sorkin put together Rob Lowe ended up being the weakest most immature of the staff. Sending him off to lose an election and then not explaining why he didn’t come back is very much a missed opportunity.

I absolutely hate the Zoe storyline for this season. It adds nothing of depth to the series as a whole.

Season 5 has my favourite episode of the whole series the Supremes. Will Bailey is actually a better character than Sam was. There are lots of things to like about season 5,6 and 7. So my unpopular opinion is season 4 is the worst season of the series. This is the first time I’ve really felt this way. But there it is.

What are yours

Doing my first rewatch in a few years and I know there are inconsistent moments in the series but I can’t remember them all. The one I noticed recently is in season 1. In 20 Hours in L.A when they’re at the party CJ is approached by a Hollywood type who wants to offer her a job in development. She says she has no idea what that is and tells Sam after she has no idea what that is. At the end of the season when we’re having the flashback where Toby goes to hire CJ we see her get fired from her public relations job in Hollywood in the movie business. There is no way CJ doesn’t know what a development job was.

What moments stand out to you that en up being goofs or retconned entirely.

Doing a rewatch for the first time in about 4 years. I’d kind of forgotten how hardcore the glasses acting is in this show. I cannot think of another show that has people taking their glasses on and off more. I can tell by the finger prints on them most people aren’t actual glasses wearers. Not only that but they leave them on their desk or the table all the time. White House staff must spend half their life tracking down their glasses in the White House.

What are your favourite West Wing eccentricities that you don’t really see in other shows. Sorkin eccentricities are fair game.
