Swelling

I’m 28 weeks pregnant (t1d) and have so far had good blood pressure readings at all of my appointments, but have just recently noticed some swelling in my feet, specifically my ankles. They are gone they are now cankles😞 lol when I google it, it says foot swelling is normal and to watch out for face/hand swelling and other symptoms for pre-e. Should I not be worried?

How to make the perfect insulin pump

I saw my endo today and one of the first things she asked me was, “If you could add a feature to your Omnipod, what would it be?” And I thought about it for a sec and said I wish it had a feature where I could schedule a dose of insulin ahead of time. It would be so amazing for me whenever I’m at work and getting ready to go on my lunch, as I often forget to prebolus until right before my meal or even while eating sometimes.. my lunch time always changes but is generally between 4:30-6 depending on my shift so if I could schedule my lunch bolus it would be so freaking awesome😩

Anyways, what about you guys? If you could add a feature to your pump that would make it perfect, what would you add?

U200 insulin

Hi all,

I recently posted because my endo switched my novolog U100 to humalog U200. I use the omnipod 5 system for reference but anyways, I’m just wondering if anyone else has had issues with it? For my novolog, my basal rate was set at 2.65 units/hour so when I switched to the U200 my doctor set it at 1.33 which isnt an option, and bc of my insulin resistance I decided to set it at 1.35 but I have only been using this insulin since 6/2 and have almost every other day had to set the basal lower and lower because I keep having lows especially through the night. I have just set my mew basal rate to 1unit/hour to try because it is 4am and I am waking up to yet another low blood sugar. I came home from work at like 8pm last night with a low sugar and have eaten ice cream, dinner (pork chop, roasted potatoes, broccoli), and banana pudding all without any kind of bolus… my sugar went up to like 170 total after the banana pudding which I ate at like 10-11pm.

I just don’t get why I’m having issues because it should be the same amount I was already taking right? I have had t1d since I was like 9 for reference, and I am currently 25 weeks pregnant. I don’t know if any of these factors make a difference as to why I’m struggling with this. Could it perhaps be a sensitivity to the new insulin? Because I have always used novolog since being diagnosed so idk if that could be it or if its pregnancy related or what but I am not having fun!!

When I started having issues with low sugars at night while pregnant I stopped taking a bolus with dinner and/or dessert, which would initially bring my sugar pretty high but slowly come down throughout the night because I am already getting shittier sleep, and I work so I cannot be waking up 2-3 times a night but even this isn’t working with the new insulin ugh. I like that it has helped keep my sugars better in general as I am not in pregnancy range a1c wise but god I cannot deal with so many lows. Before pregnancy my a1c was between like 8-9 and as of a month ago it tested as 7.5 and according to my dexcom, since pregnancy it has ranged between 6.9-7.5 which is the lowest it has ever been. I know it isn’t pregnancy perfect like recommended but I honestly cannot go much lower than that without complications in my daily life lol I work and cannot stop so many times to deal with lows.

Kinda went on a rant there whoops but anyways if anyone has any ideas to what’s going on please clue me in😭😭

U200 Insulin in Omnipod 5

I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and just went to my endo appointment. I use a lot of insulin- I was overweight prior to pregnancy and have bad insulin resistance so was always using a high dose but am currently changing my omnipods every day or so. Before pregnancy I had researched a little about the possibility of U200 insulin in the pump and even though it isn’t approved, there has been much success. Idk why I’m posting about it but lol if anyone did/is doing the same thing during their pregnancy lmk how thats going! Maybe someone will see this post who also struggles with bad insulin resistance and maybe can ask their dr about it too.

Pre-e

I’m 21 weeks pregnant and I’m a t1d (have been since 2015). So far everything looks pretty good- my urine protein test was 189 and my blood pressures haven’t been high besides two early visits around like 10 and 11 weeks (which I think was just white coat htn). Just wondering for those of you who have gotten preeclampsia, when did you start noticing symptoms or when did you get diagnosed with that?

Hi all! I’m currently dealing with financial debt due to when I didn’t have health insurance. I had to pay out of pocket and I racked up some debt from it. I’m hoping some of my other fellow diabetics can understand the hardship I’ve gone through and anyone with the means to do so can help. I got approved this year for Medicaid so I no longer have issues with medical bills but am still struggling with the debt from before that time. Anything helps really. Thanks for your support!

Hi all! I’m 19 weeks pregnant and I have t1d. Everything has been going well so far and baby girl is looking great. Measuring slightly ahead but still within normal range. I’ve just been curious about some things like the birth process and breastfeeding. Do most diabetics get induced? I’ve seen some c-section some vaginal and my doctor said in the beginning they push for vaginal and they haven’t said anything otherwise so idk. If I do get induced, does that affect breastfeeding in anyway? Also speaking of breastfeeding, how has that been for you other t1ds? My doctors have also not mentioned anything about it nor have I asked but I would really love to breastfeed if I can. Does milk come in the same time as non diabetics or are there any complications that make it more difficult to breastfeed?

Anyone with personal experiences on this please give your input!
