Coming from FF16—is the combat system designed for "No Damage" or should I be blocking/absorbing hits?

I just started FF7 Remake coming straight from FF16, and my muscle memory is messing me up.

In FF16, you can rely on precision dodges and i-frames for clean, no-damage fights. In Remake, it feels like the screen is full of visual clutter and many attacks seem completely undodgeable.

Is this game actually designed to allow "no damage" runs, or am I expected to just block, accept the chip damage, and manage my health using ATB?

Would love some quick tips on how to adjust my mindset!

Is it just me, or does the FF7 Remake version of Ifrit look like a goofy Dhalsim compared to how incredibly ferocious Clive’s Ifrit is?

Is an i7-8700 with 16GB RAM enough for backend dev (IntelliJ/GoLand + Docker + Postgres + Kafka + minio etc)?

I'm looking to get into backend development on a budget. My local store has these options:

i7-8700

i7-9700

i5-10400

i5-11500

i7-12700

I'll mainly be running IntelliJ or GoLand alongside Docker with Postgres, Kafka, etc.

Nothing serious — just learning the stack and getting interview-ready, not building production-scale projects.

The i7-12700 feels like overkill for my budget. Would the 8700 cut it, or should I step up to one of the others?

Thanks in advance!

MacBook Air 2017 — Ventura install via OCLP flashes briefly then returns to login screen

I'm trying to install macOS Ventura on my MacBook Air 2017 using OpenCore Legacy Patcher.

I've already created the installer and applied the patcher to the disk. When I restart and hold the Option key, the boot picker does appear, so I select EFI Boot.

According to the official guide, I expect to see a second boot option (the non-EFI one) that lets me proceed with the Ventura installation (the one that I have attached above). It does show up briefly, but disappears almost instantly and sends me back to the regular login screen.

What am I missing here?

[SOLVED] I need to add more time for the open core timeout when building it

Non-Malaysian Looking for a Water Filter Alternative to Coway/Cuckoo

I know this has probably been asked many times, but I haven't found a clear answer.

I'm not Malaysian and currently work in Malaysia, so Coway/Cuckoo subscriptions don't seem like the best fit in case I return to my home country. I live in Ampang, KL, and I'm considering the Panasonic TK-CS200/TK-CS20 for drinking water.

Does anyone here use either of these? Are they sufficient for drinking water on their own, or do you still boil the water after filtration?

Thanks!

FF16 shouldn't lock hard mode behind a second playthrough

I have no problem doing a second playthrough on a higher difficulty to get the platinum — but not for a game this long. Games like RE4, RE8, and RE9 are fine for that because they're shorter. Also, they really present new challenge. But not Final Fantasy. Look at God of War — it gives you the highest difficulty right from the beginning.

If i rush my way in final fantasy mode. Skipping sidequest. Will i be under-level at later part of the game? If yes, is there a farming spot to make up my lack of level?

Is OCLP stable enough if I only need it for a single printing app? (MacBook Air 2017)

I have a MacBook Air 2017 officially limited to macOS 12 (Monterey). I’m planning to use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to upgrade it to macOS 13 (Ventura) or higher.

My only goal is to run a specific app called Photo Booth Assistant. This app lets an iPad on the same network send photos to a USB printer connected to the Mac.

Since my use case is so minimal, do I need to worry about stability issues? I don't know much about OCLP's day-to-day reliability, so I'm wondering if a simple task like this is safe and straightforward. Thanks!
